A/N:
I'm so sorry for not writing for the past two weeks! Had a huge film project to work on for school (it came out great, btw) so I didn't have time to write. But, I'm back with chapter six of The Way He Looks!
<><><><>
It’d been almost a week since the movies and Dan and Phil still hadn’t gotten started on their project. Neither of them were really motivated to do any of the work and they did have quite a few months left before the project was due, so why not procrastinate?
The dismissal bell had rung and Dan sat outside the school on some benches, cross legged with PJ reflecting his position in front of him. “So, how’s Phil doing?” PJ asked and Dan shrugged. “He’s good, I guess,” he said, making the statement sound more like a question, “Why are you asking like you haven’t seen either of us in two years?”
“I mean, we haven’t really been spending time together, Dan,” PJ sighed, “Ever since Phil came around and the two of you partnered up, you’ve been spending all your time with him.” Dan suddenly smirked and shook his head, “Is somebody jealous?”
“Am not,” Dan felt a punch come from PJ and let out a slight giggle. “Oh, come on Peej,” Dan smiled, “You know I love you.” PJ turned on his and placed his head on Dan’s legs as Dan ran his fingers through his curly hair. “Though, Phil’s pretty cute, isn’t he?” PJ suggested and Dan shrugged, thinking for a second.
“I don’t really know, Peej,” he muttered. He had no idea how Phil looked like, obviously. Though, from what he can tell by his personality, he was probably extremely attractive. He could even slightly picture him in his head, the way he held himself together, confident and tall. There was no doubt that he’d have some girl swooning over him in the next month.
“He’s probably going to have some girl at his side in no time,” Dan muttered, feeling a slight sting in his chest but not putting any thought into it. “What makes you say he’s into girls in the first place?” PJ asked, “He may be after you for all we know.”
Dan practically snorted at the thought. Why would someone like Phil ever go for someone like Dan? Dan was a guy and Phil might’ve not even been into that in the first place. And, adding the fact that Dan was blind only made him even more of a minority to Phil’s love life. He shouldn’t have even been thinking so far into it, there was nothing to think about.
“We went to the movies the other day and I accidentally touched his hand,” Dan admitted, “He didn’t really seem too fazed by it.” PJ remained silent as Dan thought. “And, when he dropped me off at my place, he went to unlock the door for me and he kept his hand on mine a bit longer than what I’d consider normal,” Dan shrugged, “And, he gave me an unexpected hug, but I don’t think any of that means anything.” It stayed silent after Dan finished talking and Dan didn’t bother to strike up another conversation. It was pretty clear that PJ didn’t really want to talk either way.
“Hey guys,” a familiar, deep voice suddenly came radiating from behind the two of them. “Hey Phil,” a sudden grin spread across Dan’s face, immediately fading as he felt PJ move away from his touch. “I’ve got to go meet up with my partner,” he muttered, “I’ll, uh, see you guys later.”
Dan shrugged, feeling Phil’s questioning eyes on him. “I don’t know what’s gotten into him,” Dan sighed, shaking his head. Phil stepped in front of Dan, not sure whether he should place his hand on his shoulder for comfort or something. “I’m sure he’s okay,” Phil mumbled awkwardly, “I think he’s just not used to the feeling of not hanging out with you.” Dan nodded before getting up, causing Phil to quickly jump back so their bodies wouldn’t be literally two inches apart.
