Right when Dan and Phil walked into the house, the loud music shot through both of their ears, causing Dan to jump. Phil put his hand on his shoulder and he calmed down. “Hey, I’m going to set up the playlist,” Phil shouted past the blaring music, “I’ll find you in a little.”

Dan immediately panicked at the thought of Phil leaving him alone in the middle of his first actual party. Phil seemed to notice his panicked expression because Dan felt him pat his back seconds after he began to stress. “Don’t worry, Dan,” he laughed, “Nothing’s going to happen to you and I’ll be back soon.”

Dan nodded before Phil walked off, leaving him at the entrance. “Danny!” he suddenly heard someone shout. He turned himself towards the voice before feeling someone’s arm around his waist. “Do you know where Phil is?” the voice asked and Dan recognized who it was right away. Dan bit his tongue to hold back from laughing at the thought that Carrie was only an hour into hosting her party and she was already drunk.

“Umm he went to set up the playlist for the night,” Dan replied before feeling Carrie’s arm lift from him. “Do you want some help getting your way around?” Carrie spoke in an unnecessarily loud tone. “Can you just take me to some sort of couch?” Dan mumbled before feeling himself being pulled.

Dan sat awkwardly at the couch, feeling the vibrations of the others dancing and the vibrant music. He didn’t know why he agreed to going with Phil. The things a crush can do, he thought to himself before widening his eyes. This was the first time he actually had admitted to himself; he liked Phil.

“Hey there,” the familiar, warm voice suddenly interrupted Dan’s thoughts. Dan smiled and tilted his head towards the voice. “You know, when I said to not worry, I didn’t mean to just sit awkwardly in the corner of the room and look like you’re having no fun at all.” Dan shrugged and smiled, deciding to fit in a slightly flirtatious comment. “How can I have fun when you’re not around?” he dramatically gasped, making sure his tone was laced with sarcasm.

“Oh, shut up,” Phil laughed before pulling Dan up, “Now let’s go dance.” Phil tried to pull him towards the dancefloor but he didn’t move. “I don’t really know how to dance,” Dan muttered and Phil shook his head. “Everyone knows how to dance, some just aren’t that good,” Phil explained, “Lucky for you, you won’t be able to see all of my horrendous moves.”

Dan giggled before nodding and heading towards the floor with Phil. Phil began to move to the rhythm and eventually got into his usual embarrassing ‘dad’ dance moves. But, as he was breaking his moves, he noticed Dan was barely moving, only shifting slightly from side to side.

“Come on, Dan,” he placed his hands on Dan’s shoulders and began to move him around, “You can do better than that.” Dan groaned before moving a bit more, his feet getting into the rhythm. “See?” Phil smiled, “You’re a natural.” And, that was all it took before the two of them were having the time of their lives.

As they danced, Phil couldn’t help but notice PJ sitting in the corner of the room alone. He saw how he glanced over at their directions every once in a while, sadness in his eyes. He was just about to wave at him and gesture for him to join but Carrie practically jumped onto his back.
