Dan and Phil both sat on the usual bench outside the school on Monday morning, waiting for PJ to arrive. He said he’d meet the two of them at the school since he had to help his project partner bring their project to the school. They decided to do a more visual display on Greek mythology rather than just a power point which is what Dan and Phil went with.

“There are the two love birds,” Dan heard PJ’s voice echo from a distance as he buried his face into Phil’s arm. “I thought we made it clear that we didn’t want to be the center of attention at the school,” Phil muttered sarcastically earning a scoff from PJ.

“Anyways, you guys ready for the new semester?” PJ asked, “First half of the year passed rather quickly, didn’t it?” Dan and Phil both nodded in agreement. “You sure got the drama you wanted,” Dan added, laughing when he felt someone punch his arm.

“I’m just glad we worked everything out,” PJ sighed, “If things got any worse, I’d probably end up joining Sam and his group or something.” Dan and Phil both gasped in disgust before the three of them burst into laughter. “Let’s hope this semester is a smooth run,” PJ spoke, “I think I’ve had enough drama for now.”

The bell suddenly rang and the three of them got up to head into the school. “You guys go ahead,” PJ waved dismissively, “My partner’s over there struggling with our project.” Dan and Phil giggled before nodding and turning, heading into the school.

“Dan, Phil,” Mr. Leto called, “You’re up.” Dan walked up to the front of the room and Phil took in a deep breath before doing so as well. He looked towards the room, observing the entire class. Everyone had their eyes on him and he began to feel slightly nervous.

Glancing over at Dan, Phil noticed that he was pretty nervous as well. He cast his eyes back to the classroom, getting a thumbs up from PJ and a eyebrow wiggle and snort from Sam. He took in one last deep breath before starting off his project.

“Aphrodite was the goddess of love and lived on Mount Olympus with the other supremes, and was married to Hephaestus,” Phil started, clicking on the clicker Mr. Leto gave him to start the slideshow, “There are many legends on how she was born, one being her being born from the foam of the sea.”

“Aphrodite is said to have caused the outbreak of the Trojan War,” Dan began to talk once Phil finished his sentence and heard the click of the clicker, “When the hero Peleus was married to the sea-nymph Thetis, all the gods were invited to the ceremony, except for her. Furious with this, Aphrodite set a golden apple on the banquet table with the legend ‘For the fairest’ inscribed init. This caused all the goddesses  to argue about whose beauty entitled her to be the rightful possessor of the prize.”

Phil was just about to start off his next line but the creaking of the door interrupted him. Everyone turned their heads towards the sound, including Dan. “Um, hi,” a voice mumbled from the entryway, “Have I got the wrong room?” Mr. Leto glanced down at his book before looking over at the boy. “Christopher Kendall?” he asked and the boy nodded before stepping into the room, shutting the door behind him.

“Sorry for interrupting you,” he whispered to both Dan and Phil who stood awkwardly at the front of the room. They both bowed their heads slightly to let him know it was alright. “Alright, you can take that empty seat next to PJ,” Mr. Leto pointed towards the seat, “That’ll be your seat for the rest of the year.”
