They wanted to speak with you, and with the tone of their voices you could only think the worse. So you agreed and left with them. Once you arrived at the King's office, both princess took a seat, while the other seat was offered to you.
"What was so urgent that you needed talk to me?" Their stares were really getting you nervous.
Prince Noctis stared at his hands that rested on his lap. His friends stared at him with what seemed to be worry, all the while Sephiroth and Prince's eyes were on you. "There was an incident, and I'm afraid there is nothing that we can do to hide it anymore." Finally prince Rufus explained. "With how your need for medical assistance, I'm afraid one of the medical was able to discover....Your secret."
Your breathing hitched, and this time you had to look away. Things were not going as you had planned. It wasn't bad to that King Regis knew about it, he was so accepting. Surprisingly enough, Sephiroth was not so bad either when he found out you were a woman. But now these other people knew...And who knew who else?
"How this did happen..." You asked to yourself and to Sephiroth who guaranteed that that medic wasn't going to talk. Though it wasn't his fault not his responsibility.
"It wasn't the medic, it was actually a soldier who had been by hearing range when Sephiroth was speaking to him. Unfortunately, it is rather too late. The rumor is out, and I'm afraid there is nothing that we can do to hide it. That is," the blond prince leaned forward, "for you to stay. Sephiroth has agreed to be your mentor for the time being, and prince Noctis has agreed."
Before you spoke, Prince Noctis stood up and he didn't look to pleased. "You will stay here, do you have any idea of the trouble you've caused?" His eyes snapped to your face. "One of the reasons why my father had to stay back was because he was trying to fix the problem that came with enlisting children and then sending theme off to war. Can you imagine how my people will react when they find out that you're a woman?"
With that, the Prince left the office in rage. His friend followed after, which left you, Sephiroth and Prince Rufus. "What of the King?"
"He's too sick, for the time being I will be in charge. He of course does not know neither will he know until you're safe to return to Lucis. But for the time being, you'll be moved to a more secluded place, and Sephiroth will be your mentor until further notice." Raising from his seat, he motioned for to leave but the other two followed.
There was no need for you to argue since there was no place for that. King Regis had been very supportive and if he had to deal with giving you and the others the opportunity to fight for a better future. If you were precent, then you'll make matters worse. The best option was for you to stay until they found a way to solve it. Or if you didn't have any other option, you'll have to come up with a new plan for survival.
---
They took you away from the Kingdom and closer to a small village. Though it was a small house a little isolated from the rest of the villagers.
Though it was only Sephiroth who had companied you, Prince Rufus had to stay back and handle a few matters.
Once the two of you were inside, the male spoke. "This is where you'll stay from now on," as if you hadn't realized that, "stay here as much as possible for the following days. For the time being, I'll either come personally or send someone with food, clothing and other things."
No matter what he said, you couldn't stop thinking about why they were so eager to provide you with all of this. It was just not normal that Prince Rufus so invested in trying to keep you"safe" and provide you with what you needed. There really was nothing special about you, other than experiencing war at your age. Because it seemed that had been one of the major things that kept people so interested. Now the Prince was even more interested because he knew you were a woman. Even so, at some point you could understand his interest, but it was no reason for him to go this far.
Letting out a sigh, couldn't keep your curiosity hidden. "Why exactly is the Prince so worried about my safety? Let's be honest, I'm sure that Prince Noctis' issues are of no concern to him, so why?"
The silver haired male crossed his arms across his chest. "He already explained it, didn't he?"
He did, but you were sure those had been nothing but lies. "Let's be honest here, there's nothing to be gained here by bidding me so there must be an ulterior motive. Why?"
Maybe if you asked a little more be would tell you. Then he laughed. "Prince Noctis' bought it, but he's been filled with worry over what problems might arise after your exposed to his people not as a simple soldier, but a woman soldier. With so many generations of male soldiers, I doubt they'll accept it."
Which made another question arise. King Regis talked about that, but it seemed that he had plans of revealing your secret not only to his Kingdom but probably the world. If accepted by his people, then you could not only open new doors. But, there was something great to show to the world, to show them that there was an official first woman who had been named official a soldier. There was something satifyng about that, and it was probably what King Regis wanted to do.
But if things didn't go like that, then you'll either have to be thrown to prison or just thrown out of the Kingdom. If that was the case, you had to think about your next steps, what would you do? Besides, you'll probably be hunted down and even killed. Not many were so thrilled with having women behave like a man, and to have one that had infiltrated the military? They'll definitely hunt you down. "I know, which still brings me to the same question. What does he want? If that is the case, by having me here Prince Rufus and his father will only have problems."
"Not quite, ShinRa is a strong Kingdom and they're not too against women joining their arm forces. In fact, there had been some women who had tried to join SOLDIER but we're easily discouraged by the others. This of course proved that they were unfit to join SOLDIER. However, then you arrived and well, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that you impressed him. It's no secret that one day he will be King, and once that happens, he plans on making a lot of changes." There was a glint in his eyes as he spoke, as if he was eager for something. "If that happens, and if you're rejected by the King some you now call home, he plans to have you as an example and encourage more women to join. Which is why I am going to be your mentor, so that by the time that happens you'll be more than ready."
But there was more to that and Sephiroth wasn't about to tell you what that was. Because although that was possible to happen, he would gain nothing if you were accepted by the people of Lucis'.
Whatever that was, for now it was best to accept the offer. You'll have plenty of time to think of what to do, besides you needed to rest and he before you executed your plans.
"I suppose that makes a lot of sense." You partly lied, and if he knew you were lying he didn't show it. With a simple nod, he opened the door and left the house.
Maybe it was the circumstances, but you felt that something was wrong. As if there was something going to happen and it did not feel like it would be something pleasant.
