Yuzuki's POV:

"What are you doing here Yuzuki?" Carla hissed, ripping his hand out of my grip.

I stood frozen, unable to get my eyes off the blood.

"I was looking for you since you were late Carla-nii." I answered robotically.

Carla sighed and washed the blood off. I snapped out of my frozen state and grabbed onto the sleeve of his jacket.

"Carla-nii, what happened?"

He hesitated.

"Remember when I told you that a disease took Mother's life? I..." he said, trailing off.

My eyes widened in realization.

"You have the same one?"

He nodded and I desperately grabbed his shoulders.

"How long do you have?! We have to get you to a doctor! What is it called?!"

"Yuzuki! This disease, Endzeit is not curable. My symptoms aren't that bad yet so I still have time."

"That bloody mess is 'not bad'?"

"Mother has went through worse."

I stayed silent, feeling guilty about how much I had missed.

"Please do not worry about it Yuzuki. Now, let us go train."

I nodded stiffly, following after the male to the magic room. He handed me a blindfold.

"Today, we're going to work on your hearing."

I put the blindfold and was immediately uncomfortable about not being able to see.

"From here on, I won't be saying anything and you have to depend on your ears to determine where I am. I will be using magic as well."

I nodded towards his voice before it became eerily quiet. Suddenly, I felt a burning on my right shoulder blade, instantly hissing at the pain. I aimed my laser at where the shot came from but there was no grunt of pain. Suddenly, I felt his presence beside me.

"Too slow." he whispered in my ear.

I whipped my body towards his voice to punch him but I only hit air.

"You must concentrate Yuzuki."

I growled, frustrated but listened to his instructions, breathing in deeply. I focused on my surroundings, my ears picking up the slightest shuffling of clothes. Using my favorite finger guns, I aimed at the noise and heard the hiss come out of Carla's mouth. Suddenly, there was a pat on my head and I jumped, a bit startled.

"Good job Yuzuki. Again."

For the next hour and a half, we continued the exercise and by the time we were finished, I was exhausted from how much magic I had used.

"We're done for today."

"Thank you Carla-nii. I probably won't be eating dinner today since I'm probably just gonna end up sleeping as soon as I get to my room."

He nodded.

"Yuzuki, I need you to do me a favor. Don't tell Shin about THAT. I never intended to have you guys find out but since you already know, I have to take extra precautions to make sure he doesn't know."

"Okay....." I answered hesitantly.

He pulled me into a hug and I was a bit shocked. In the past two years, it was rare for Carla to show signs of affection and I felt tears well up in my eyes. I hugged him back tightly.
