Chapter 1.
Kendra's POV
I woke up to my body getting shaken by not so familiar hands. "What?" I hissed groggily as I had my face imbedded into my pillow.
"Get up! We need to go see the beautiful city of London," the foreign exchange student, Sylvie, singsonged with her heavy British accent.
Basically, my parents wanted me to learn more about other cultures and see a whole other continent before the "bad thing" would happen to me. So they had a total stranger come live with us for a whole month and then I had to go and stay with her and her family for a whole month. It was torture! I didn't like Sylvie one bit, she was annoying and obnoxious about everything. Her parents were okay but she also had 2 creepy older brothers that I also didn't like one bit.
"We've already seen it like 800 times!" I yelled back at her but I still pulled off the covers and sat up in bed. She clapped her hands and patted my head before she walked out of the room. What was I? A dog?
I pulled on some black leggings and a v-cut purple shirt that was kind of baggy on my thin body. I didn't even bother to brush my hair, I just threw it up into a messy bun. I could barely keep my eyes open.
I was stumbling to get on my shoes when Sylvie's brother that was a year older than me walked in. "Damn, I expected to see you naked.." He said with disappointment in his high voice. This boy wasn't even the slightest bit attractive, he had a bushy unibrow and smelled like eggs all the time.
"Leave me alone," I narrowed my eyes onto him. i couldn't help but stare at an awkward mole that was placed right in the middle of his forehead.
He snorted a little, I turned my attention away from him and onto my purse. I was getting everything I needed ready for whatever Sylvie had planned today, probably a stupid museum or something in that nature.
I felt Noel, Sylvie's brother, slap my butt, hard. I jumped around and punched him right in the face, "don't touch me!" I hollered at him. I grabbed my bag which was holding my phone, money and other things and darted out of the room. He was lying on the ground crying like the baby that he is.
"Why did you yell?" Sylvie's mom, Mrs. Blake asked gently but her voice was still intimidating.
"Your son slapped my ass," I said as I bolted down the stairs, not bothering to look at her.
"Where are you going?" Sylvie screamed from the top of the stairs.
"I'm sick of you and your family! You're all annoying, I want to go home," I screamed back at her before I slammed the front door and was outside of the house.
I speed walked down the side walk, not knowing what to do or where to go. I kept looking back, making sure that any of them weren't following me. I could not survive another 2 weeks with them. I wanted to die.
I was passing a ton of people, and some of them were speaking a language I didn't know that much of, French. I felt like they were all talking about me, I have trust issues I guess.
I was headed towards a cafè when a huge mob of people were clustered in front of the walk way that I needed to head through. "Ugh," I groaned to myself as I tried to get through but no matter where I would try to enter, the people wouldn't let me through.
"Whatever," I muttered to myself as back tracked my steps a bit and went down a different street. It wasn't as crowded with people, actually barely anyone besides homeless people were passing me on this road. I don't know what came over me but I just suddenly had the urge to cry.
So I did. I could barely see where I was walking because the tears were causing me to see blurred images but I didn't care where I was going anymore. I just needed to go home. I hated it here. I hated the Blake's.
"Eleanor!" I heard a deep unfamiliar British accent bellow through the air from behind me. I looked in front of me but no one was there, was this person mistaking me for this "Eleanor" character?
I kept walking, not looking back to see who was calling out for "Eleanor". The tears just couldn't stop escaping from my weary eyes. "Eleanor!" I heard footsteps from behind me shuffling and I noted that it was the same voice.
I flashed around, "I'm not Eleanor," I said trying to sound polite but with the mood I was in I knew I sounded just rude.
"Uh sorry," a boy with a brown quiff and blond highlights said softly.
"Ok," I said while turning around again, wiping more tears from my eyes.
"What's wrong?" I heard this stranger ask.
"Nothing," I said trying to sound confident but I know I didn't. I probably sounded pathetic.
"My names Zayn," he said as he stopped me from walking anymore.
"I'm Kendra," I said with a weak smile.
"Tell me what's wrong," he insisted as he put his hands in his pockets, standing on his tip-e-toes. He gave me a bright smile. This was the kind of boy I'm attracted to but I wasn't feeling up to flirting today.
"I have to go.." I said uneasily as I took a few more steps but then he stopped me again.
"No. Please." He whispered with his warm brown pleading eyes.
"I don't feel like explaining it here!" I threw up my arms, showing him our surroundings. Dumpsters, street lights and homeless people.
"How about over coffee?" He beamed while grabbing my hand.
"Looks like I don't have a choice," I said unhappily as we headed to a nearby Starbucks.
