Kendra's POV

"Where do we go?" Niall yelled as we all flew open the door, clustering into the hall.

"Down the stairs!" Paul yelled, pointing to a bright blinking light that read, "exit," and showed a little man and stairs.

Everyone flew over to them. I had my phone in one hand and Zayn's cold, shaky hand in another. It would take us forever to go down the flight of stairs because we were on the 17th floor and it's not like we could ride the elevator!

As we were about to sprint down the flight of stairs I could of swore I felt something hit my back. I flew around but no one was there. In a rush, I focused back on rapidly heading down the stairs for my life.

I heard yells and screams of horror come from unfamiliar voices. Sounds of heavy footsteps filled my ears and I could feel my legs getting tired from pounding on the hard metal stairs. I had my hand fastened around the stairs' handle bar, going a fast as I could.

I was becoming tired, things were racing though my mind. Was this even real life?

We passed a level that read floor 6, so many other people were crowding into the stair case now, running for their lives.

"Almost there babe," Zayn encouraged me, his breathing heavy.

I tried to reply but the only thing I could manage was a small yelp.

Then I remembered the phone call. How someone warned me to get out of the hotel but I didn't listen. Well, technically Zayn didn't listen because I tried to tell him we should leave but he said I was safe with him. Someone actually wanted to hurt the boys and save me.. But who?

I felt worried sick, that terrible feeling in my gut was back. The smell of smoke started to tickle my nose and throat, sending me into coughs. My lungs were already weak enough as it is, with the cancer cells and all.

When we finally reached the bottom of the stairs, a group of people were all filed into the doorway which separated the staircase from the lobby, making it impossible to get passed.

"Move!" Harry shouted, pushing into the people. I couldn't stop coughing, Zayn wrapped his hand around mine, trying to make me feel better.

Almost instantly, everyone began to file through the door, running and shouting through the darkness in the lobby. When we got passed the doors I couldn't see a thing, it was pitch dark because of the thick, smoke.

"Crawl!" I heard a deep voice shout from behind us. Immediately, I dropped to the ground and started to crawl towards where I hoped was the door.

The air was sticky and foggy and it made my eyes hurt whenever I would try and open them to see. My throat was hurting from coughing so much and I just felt like laying down and giving up, but I couldn't.

"Zayn!" I yelled, praying he'd be right next to me. I couldn't bare make it through this without him.

No answer.

I continued to cough, crawling on the rugged ground. What happened to Zayn? Where was he? I thought he was right next to me?

Suddenly I could see bright city lights and I sprang to my feet. I made it to the door. Officers were all around, running to assist people. Firefighters were spread out all around also, their trucks roaring with sound and light.

"Ma'am, are you alright?" A dark haired officer asked me.

As my throat adjusted to the fresh air I was able to answer, "Yes. I need to find my boyfriend and his friends though!" I pleaded.

"Stand over there!" He pointed to a group of people who I didn't recognize one bit. I obeyed and walked over to them, to find myself standing there alone, praying that everyone in the burning building would be okay.
