Chapter 7.
Kendra's POV
"Oh my god sweetie it's so good to see you!" My mom beamed as I plopped into our white SUV.
"We've missed you so much!" My dad said looking at me through the rear view mirror with a smile.
"I know," I breathed out, "I've missed yous too! Uh where's Robbie?" Robbie was my older brother that was 25, we were pretty close for our 7 year age difference.
"Work, he couldn't get off," my mom answered with a loud sigh. I really missed my parents, honestly. I just had so much on my mind and I never seemed happy. I was like, the one person who would be sulking in a chair at a fast beat moving party, bringing everyone else in a down mood.
"Oh," I replied as I looked out the window. We weren't that far from our home in Manhattan, I couldn't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight.
"So how was London?" My mom asked with energy hyped in her voice, I immediately let out a load groan.
"Terrible mom. The family I stayed with was messed up. Her parent's had major problems, her brothers were perverts and she was just a stuck up bitch." My dad gasped when I said her brothers were perverts. It was true though.
"Sylvie seemed so nice when she was here with us though!" My mom defended her.
"It was an act, mom," I gritted through my teeth, getting angry that she could even think Sylvie was a "sweet girl."
"Riley missed you," my dad piped in, referring to our black lab. We got her when I was 14, apparently dogs were stress relievers and my family and I were going through complete hell when I was 14, due to me and my issues. So, we got her to ease the pain.
I smiled thinking about her. Her running around my legs, wagging her tail involuntary, immediately putting me in a better mood.
We slowed down and pulled into the driveway of our 2 story, comfy house. It was white and had tons of windows in the front of the house but barely any in the back. Even though we lived in Manhattan, we were located in the suburban part which was only about 10 minutes away from the city by walking. I could already see Riley in the front door, jumping and scratching at the glass door.
"I'll get your things," my dad offered as I made my way into the house. It smelled like vanilla as I walked in and I was already getting pounded by Riley.
"Hi baby!" I said as I greeted Riley by petting her and kissing her on the head. She was jumping up and down, panting and barking like crazy.
I ran up the staircase, running to my room. This really was my escape to everything going on, just sitting in my room listening to music. I fell onto my bed, feeling all the water swoosh under me. My water bed was cold, I loved when it was like that because it really did feel like I was on an ocean or something.
"Did you miss this house?" my mom interrupted me as she stood in the doorway. I would always tell her how much I hated it here, too many secrets were hidden in these walls.
"Yeah.." I admitted to her with a smile. It was my home and it's not like I'd ever be able to live somewhere else because I probably won't even.. I shook off the horrible thought. You've survived this once, you can survive it again, I told myself over and over. I didn't believe myself though, not even for an instant because I knew, I was telling a huge lie.
