Chapter 8 : Trapped With The Devil
Gauri opened her eyes only when she heard the screech of tires. She had totally lost track of time but was certain it had only been a few minutes.
"Get out."
"What?" She gasped looking around. The car was gone. How did he manage to escape it? "Where is the car?"
He gave her that winning smile. That's it. No words. She assumed he had cleverly left it behind. No wonder the surrounding. He had parked the car on some remote land covered with dry vegetation with some trees around.
"Where , What , Why?" She asked baffled. Hoping he'd answer at least one. She couldn't read or hear minds.
He glared at her and got out. Gauri gulped. Point one - he was not a person to act on impulse without prior plan in mind. Point two - he was the only known option she had, given that her dying phone was now dead. At least she had grown immune to him even if that immunity was one out of hundred. Unknown danger was always more risky and dangerous than known. She walked out from the car cursing the weird door. If only it had opened at the correct time before she wouldn't have been in this situation.
"What's happening? Why are we walking into nowhere?" She spoke catching up with him. She either thought a lot or spoke a lot when she was scared. She was very scared right now. More because she knew the kind of man she was keeping company of.
"Shut up and follow. Or find your way home." He gave her a hard gaze and followed the map on his phone, taking quick long strides.
Gauri stood looking around. She had no one to trust but him. She silently followed him. Was this his trap? She momentarily paused her steps. There was a possibility this was all his freaking trap. But then she had never seen him so worked up like that. His look said how frustrated he was. She saw his figure disappearing ahead. She ran behind him sending up a prayer.
It had been more than twenty minutes or perhaps twenty five, that they had been walking. Gauri had no clue of time. She had not bothered him by saying a word. She was glad that the trek through the virgin land filled with trees had almost ended and they had reached some sort of road. She saw him make a call. She silently stood beside him, of course two to three foot in between. She felt like a nervous nerd, in class of the strict teacher.
"Five minutes. The car should be here." He finally announced looking at her fidget with her shrug's ends. She shook her head in a yes. She was extremely tired after that walk that seemed endless. She looked around. It looked like some single state highway.
Suddenly there was some noise. They looked up to find a van screech to a halt before them. Gauri panicked stepping back. The next thing she knew was him grabbing her hand and shouting Run. Gauri didn't put her mind into it. Her legs followed the command. She was dragged behind and soon there were hulk like goons around them. He tried hitting one but got a hit from their stick. Gauri felt a sudden pain throb the back of her head. "Ouuww!" She groaned holding her head. She turned to find one of the men smirking as she felt darkness flood her eyes. Last thing she felt was stings on her arm as she hit the road.
Omkara turned to find her on the floor. He grimaced putting all his power he snatched a stick trying to fight the four men. He failed. Soon he was hit on the head as well. He tried to attack the men in the same way. One fell. While he was tackling and fighting the second, the third held his hands and the fourth covered his nose and mouth with something. Maybe chloroform. Perhaps his plan B was their plan A. He cursed as he felt himself slipping into unavoidable slumber.
