The woman who I called grandmother taught me the word of the Lord ever since I stepped into her home four years ago. I do believe there is something out there, but I am debating on whether this being is called god or lord or Jesus Christ, etc. Anyways, she used to repeat stories from the Bible especially the one of Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit tree.
"Don't you understand it?" she asked me the first thime she told me the story. I nodded in agreement and for her to chill out. She was a very passionate Christian lady, sort of nice, but most of the time she was serious.
"God told Eve not to get even near that tree, but she disobeyed. Eating that forbidden fruit made her a sinner. I don't want you to be like her. You can be pure and a good woman and soon you will be with the Lord himself," she gave a small smile.
So I am, I have stayed pure. Well, I am a virgin and that's the pure as it gets. I kissed boys before, I let two touched my breasts in middle school and I touched a random guy at a party last year. I even got drunk once. Yet, I never been the "bad girl" or "popular" or "the hot one". I really don't have friends either or a family. You see, my mother died when I was ten, then my "father" couldn't handle having a kid anymore so he gave me to his mother when I turned fourteen. And when it comes to friends, well, they were more like acquaintances or school buddies that I used to have small talk or study with. They did invite me to parties, but I always went alone or just stick to a random group and hear them talk. Of course, this grandmother never knew I sneaked out to party and so when I got drunk that one time, she caught me and beat me with a branch tree. I cried and I hated her for it.
"You aren't going to become a slut like your mother! why are you acting out?" she asked me after she healed my wounds on my back.
"I just want to be normal," I whisper.
"Well follow my rules and God's rules and you will be normal."
I am not and never was normal. She is right. My mom was a slut, well before she had me, she was a prostitute actually; but, after she gave birth, she settled down to whom I called "father" for many years. She died of an accidental overdose. She took the wrong sleeping medication and she died. I cried and felt depressed because my mother was gone. Yet, I felt no sadness at the same time and soon after days I was okay. She wasn't really around the house. She was a nurse at a small hospital working the graveyard shifts and coming home to sleep during the day. My "father" was a truck driver, always on the road. I was almost alone except on the holidays, they were actually there though they did get drunk so they just leave me there.
I really never had a family and now staring at my "grandmother's" grave, a miracle has happened.

"This is your daughter," Mrs. Wallis says to my father. I thought I was living with my real father all this time, but apparently this man who I am seeing in front of me is my biological father.
"Cassandra, this is Darwin Moore. He is your real father," Mrs. Wallis says.
"Am I going to live with him now?" I ask her.
"Yes, he is your only family member we could find," Mrs. Wallis answers. "I'll leave you both for a minute. I'll be outside."
I look at the tall, slim yet muscled man standing next to Mrs. Wallis desk. He puts his hands inside his khaki pant's pockets and stares at me.
"Umm, hello Cassandra, I know that you barely discovered about my existence and I'm in the same situation; but, I want this to go smoothly," Darwin says. He looks at me as if he is trying to remember if he has seen me before. Silence fills the room and we just stare at each other. He is handsome, no wonder my mom felt for him.
