14~Safety Measures

It was a sunny day when Shinichi woke up as he looked at the sleeping magician beside him. He stood up and proceeded to go to the kitchen and drank some water before going back and sitting down on the couch slowly as he continued looking at the sleeping magician. Shinichi gently nudged Kaito as he slowly opened his eyes and sat up on the couch and looked at the surroundings sleepily.

~Shinichi's POV~
I slightly chuckled at the sight of the sleepy magician as I proceeded to fix the messy couch and went to the kitchen to make some breakfast. I looked at the magician as he sat on the table while rubbing his weary eyes.

" Good morning to you sleepy head." I greeted him in an amused tone.

" Go...od..mor..ning..." He replied while looking at the food that I was making.

I grinned as I continued to make some breakfast. After that, I sat beside him and put our breakfast on the table.

" You should hurry up and eat already. We have a lot to do today." I said seriously as I looked at the magician, who is still half asleep at this point.

" Ok..ok." Kaito mentioned as he started munching on his sandwich.

I gazed at him before starting to eat and make some coffee for myself.

" Umm...Kaito..?" I looked at him worriedly.

" Yeah? What is it?" He stared at me curiously, waiting for my question.

" Did you sleep well yesterday..?" I asked cautiously while taking a sip of my coffee.

Kaito looked down on the table with a sad expression on his face before looking at me with a small and gentle smile.

" I slept well...Thanks for asking. Oh, and thank you for comforting me...You know...about what happened yesterday....I really needed it." He replied sincerely as he hugged me tightly.

I hugged him back and patted his back before we finished eating our sandwiches. We proceeded to go back to the library room as I sat down on the couch and showed Kaito the complete plan for his next heist.

" So, do you think you can do that?" I asked the magician with a serious expression on my face.

He looked at the plan one more time before showing a smirk on his face and raising an eyebrow.

" Did you just forget who I am? Of course I can, after all I am Kaito Kid." He replied back with confidence.

" Now, don't get cocky. We are talking about an organization who wants kill you here." I stated as I crossed my arms and looked at the magician seriously.

" Like that's something new to me. Remember that the police force wants to capture me." Kaito said in a care free tone.

( A police force that wants to capture you in captivity is different from a secret organization that is specialized to do illegal things and kill you. You idiot.)

I sighed and proceeded to walk upstairs.

" Hey, where are you going?" He asked in a childish manner.

" I'm going to change my clothes because I am going to buy some things that we will need to make our plan work perfectly." I replied with annoyance.

" ...And I suggest that you should clean yourself up as well." I continued before going to my room and changing into a more casual attire.

I proceeded to go downstairs and look for Kaito.
However, he was nowhere to be found.
I looked around the place before I saw a piece of paper on the table.

I'm gonna go home for now, it would be to suspicious if I stay at your place for much longer.
Don't worry, I'm going to go back to your house...just wait for me ok?

( Unbelievable.)

I sighed once more as I sat on the couch and proceeded to read a book while I waited for Kaito to come back. After a few minutes, he showed up and we proceeded to go outside and buy some supplies that we'll need for the next heist.

" I think that's all we need." Kaito said as he tried to catch his breath.

" You look tired." I said to him plainly.

" Well, that's because you were the one who made me carry all of these supplies!" He spatted out with annoyance.

I simply grinned back at him as I continued to walk back home, with him following me.
As we were walking down the street, I saw a familiar figure walking towards our direction.
I tried to see who it was but I was dragged by Kaito as he rushed into a nearby alleyway and covered my mouth with his hand before he let go of me and took a peak outside the alleyway.

" Why the heck did you have to do that?" I asked as I looked at him annoyingly.

" The person that was walking in our direction is a....close friend of mine.." He replied with uncertainty.

" You might know him, after all he is a detective as well." Kaito continued.

" The British detective, Hakuba." I said plainly.

The magician looked at me with wide eyes before picking up the supplies that we bought.

" How on earth did you know?" He asked me curiously.

" That's because I have met him as Conan in your school and well, you said that he was a detective and one of your close friends so I just presumed that you were talking about him." I explained to the surprised detective in a monotoned voice.

" You really are The Great Detective of the East. And that's one of the reasons why I am very fond of you, Shinichi." He said as he gently smiled at me.

I felt my face heat up as I started to walk out of the alleyway and continued to go back home with Kaito still smiling. After we reached the gate of my house, I stopped and admired the scenery before Kaito called out to me.

( You are such an idiot Kaito....but I guess that's one of the reasons why I like you.)
