Shinichi and Kaito talked about the riddle they made as the detective waited for Hakuba to call him when he is finally needed. The magician suggested that he should go with Shinichi but the high school detective disagreed since it would be odd for them to know each other just by the knowledge that Conan has about him.
~Shinichi's POV~
I looked at Kaito as he sighed while holding a mug of hot coco in his hands.
"I already told you, you can't go with me...not yet at least." I said firmly to the whining magician.
(My goodness, you are hopeless Kaito.)
I continued to drink my cup of coffee as Kaito continued to give me his puppy dog eyes.
"That doesn't work on me and what I said is final. You won't come with me." I stared at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"Okay, okay. Be careful when solving the riddle, okay? You don't want to say too much about it." The magician said softly as he raised his arms in defeat.
"I'll be fine." I reassured him as I heard a buzzing sound from my phone.
I picked up the phone as Kaito looked at me with concern filled in his eyes.
"Moshi moshi, Hakuba! How are things going at the station? Oh..you still couldn't solve it. Yeah, I'll be heading there right now." I said as I quickly ended the call and proceeded to clean myself up and head to the front door.
"Kaito, make sure that you check the place up before you go back home, alright?" I shouted out before going to the police station.
~Kaito's POV~
I sighed as the detective left to go to the police station.
"Why do you always have to leave me behind when it comes to this type of stuff, Shinichi?" I muttered to myself as I looked down at my empty mug.
( I wish I can go too...)
I pondered on that thought for a moment before grinning.
"Maybe I can go without him noticing..."
I quickly rushed outside of Shinichi's house as I followed him closely without alarming any bystanders and other people.
I looked around the place before taking another step as I followed the detective.
(We are almost there Kaito, you can do this just don't mess up...)
I nodded to myself before Shinichi suddenly stopped with a serious expression on his face.
(Crap. Did he find out that I was following him?)
I panicked as I slowly backed away and hid myself near a bush of plants.
I sighed with relief as he continued walking without any knowledge that he was being followed. I continued to do this process until I finally reached the police station.
I hurriedly disguised myself and went inside as I looked at Shinichi approaching a big door. He opened it as I looked around the room with wide eyes.
( Wow. There are really a lot of people here.)
I leaned at a nearby corner of the room as I watched Shinichi surrounded by Nakamori-keibu, Hakuba and the other police officers.
( Shinichi has a lot of connections in the police force, not really that surprising since he is very skilled at what he does.)
" Yo, Kudo." A boy said with a cap and a strange accent.
Shinichi looked at the boy and smiled.
" It's been a long time, Hattori." He said to the boy the same age as him.
( Wait, they know each other? Why didn't he tell me that he had another detective friend.)
I stayed calm and focused as Shinichi proceeded to look at the heist card we had made with confidence.
" I will soon reach the pinnacle with its chimes and knobs, with arrows guiding me in different directions, with it first time it rang for two gears with opposite springs and knots." The Detective of the East read out loud as the others listened carefully to him.
" The place that he is referring to is the Clock Tower and the date and time is the same just like the last time he first appeared at the Clock Tower." He explained with ease as Nakamori-keibu and the other officers were astonished how fast Shinichi figured out the riddle so easily.
Hakuba scoffed and raised his eyebrow as he looked at the other detective with a cap.
" What about the other heist card?" Hakuba asked to Shinichi.
The detective of the East smiled as he looked at Hattori.
" It's simple. The other card is used to confuse you guys since it would help stall some time for the thief." He explained to the rather angry looking British detective.
( He really is good at this stuff.)
After a few more discussions about the upcoming heist, Shinichi was finally able to go home as I followed him closely.
He sighed and turned around without any warning as I clumsily walked a few steps back.
" You can stop hiding now, Kaito." Shinichi said with annoyance.
( Crap. Now I am really gonna be dead.)
I slowly showed myself to him as I expected him to yell at my face.
He chuckled softly as I looked at him with confusion.
" You really are stubborn." He mentioned casually as he gestured me to walk beside him.
" Well, that's because I'm curious." I said to the detective as I pouted.
" I know you are, you're always curious even when I try my best to stop you." He said as he looked up at the sky.
" Hey, how did you know I was following you?" I asked to the detective as I looked at him intently.
" I didn't. I just guessed that you were following me since I thought I saw a dove following me." He replied with a smirk on his face.
( Oh dear, I really did mess up.)
We both laughed as we went our own ways as we decided to prepare with the upcoming heist full of energy and ready to face the Black Organization's threats.
