"Nandini."

A voice breathed out from behind Nandini, as she stood below the stage, where her brother and Anika sat, the ring ceremony about to start.

She could recognize the raspy voice anywhere, sending shivers down her spine, the close proximity affecting her a lot more than she showed.

"Manik, please. Not right now, just...it's bhai's engagement."

She muttered tight lipped, not wanting to draw any attention or create a scene.

She was tired, of him offering explanations, of her pretending to not love him anymore, and the both of them being miserable.

She knew she still loved him, of course she did. But a part of her was so horribly scared, could she afford to get her heart broken again? Could she take the risk of giving it to him again?

Her train of thought was interrupted by a nervous clearing of the throat.

"No I-I know. I'm not looking for a conversation. Just...please read this."

Manik said from behind her, gently handing her a rose-colored envelope.

The confusion must've been very obvious on her face, so Manik shifted awkwardly, his eyes piercing into hers, as he silently pleaded for her to not throw the envelope away.

Nandini's eyes were a bit water-y, a side effect of the drink, she'd decided. She quickly averted her gaze from Manik's eyes, and gave him a quick nod, before keeping the envelope in her clutch bag.

Manik had a small smile on his face, nodding his head up and down, as if taking the scene in.

He quickly brightened up, and indicated towards the stage, as if asking Nandini to go up and stand with her family.

Nandini looked at him one last time, before going over to Malik and Raichand, and dragging them along with her, a ring box in her hand.

"It's time for the rings! But before that, a toast, to new beginnings!"

Abhimanyu announced, a glass of champagne in his hands as everyone raised their glasses.

"New ending bolo bhaiya, Shaadi ho rahi hai bhai ki."

Rudra grinned, reciting a decade old WhatsApp forward as everyone chuckled besides themselves.

"Di, Ring."

Mira whispered with a smile, as Samrat handed Anika a red box, with a simple yet stunning platinum band.

Samrat had insisted that Mira and him buy the ring, instead of Shivaay or Anika paying for it, he said it was a way for them to pamper their sister for once.

Anika smiled looking at the ring, and ran her hand along Samrat's hair, her other hand on Mira's cheek.

"Bhai, woh, Anika Di ko surprise karna tha, so I chose the ring. Hopefully, she'll like it?"

Nandini whispered in Shivaay's ear, as Shivaay grinned and kissed her forehead, making Manik smile.

"She will love it, thank you."
