It was cold.

Cold and wet.

She had grown accustomed to English winters, wet winds biting at her skin. She had travelled to world and not known weather like England's. it brought her a strange comfort, her homeland compared to distant corners of the world.

Addy pulled her jacket tighter around her shoulders. She stood in the wooden bin shed in a bid to shield herself from the heavy rain fall, she sighed heavily, running her hand over her face. Her body ached, for the first time in years, it reminded her of her past life with the military. Small strands of blonde hair fell from her quickly rushed ponytail, burying themselves deep in her eyes adding to her annoyance.

She wanted nothing more than to return to the comfort of her small flat, shower the days sweat and stress away and curl up on the sofa watching shit TV.

As she flicked the last of the ash from her cigarette, she stubbed the end of on the wood of the fence tossing it into one of the large bins. She shielded her eyes as she jogged the small distance to the door and back into the warmth of the care home, she found herself working in. she shrugged off her jacket, small droplets of water staining her mint green overall, hanging it gently on the back of a door to dry as she made her way into the small office ready to face the mountain of paperwork that waited for her.

She sighed lightly, settling into the plush worn leather chair, a small bench desk Infront of her with an old desktop computer to one side. She began shuffling through the paper, her eyes scanning over each document as she scribbled names on top of forms ready to file them away later.

She had taken the job shortly after leaving the ranks of the army, she was battle hardened and cold. However, she learnt to care for people, to care for herself, learnt to love herself once again, everything she thought she had lost she found within the comfort of the care home, she found another family, they had welcomed her cold heart with open arms and warmed it with love.

A knock on the door pulled her attention from her paperwork to the open door.

Sugar an older thai lady stood with a wide smile, she bounced sround a little as she hummed a song to herself, they had started at around the same time and quickly grown a friendship with each other despite the age difference, they laughed together and often shared their worries with each other.

"Addy?" she spoke with a heavy accent, Addy glanced up, softly twirling her pen between her fingers. She smiled at Sugar listening to what she was about to say.

"There is a man at the door for you" Sugar glanced across her shoulder and through the dinning room towards the front door, Addy followed her gaze but was only able to make out the rough outline of someone stood behind the frosted glass, Her eyebrows pulled together slightly her mind racing as she wondered if she had forgotten an appointment her manager had told her about.

"Did he say a name?" Addy questioned her eyes returning to the paperwork in front of her as she scribbled a name down. Sugar hummed lightly moving into the office, she lent on the desk watching Addy.

"John. John price. Is he your boyfriend?" Addy felt her blood run cold at Sugars words, her grip on her pen tightened nearly snapping the plastic casing, her eyes focused on the shadow through the frosted glass, her heart hammering in her chest as her thoughts ran wild with reasons why John Price would be here.

"He's quite attractive" Sugar giggled wiggling her eyebrows towards Addy.

"Did he say what he wanted?" her voice was sharper than Sugar had ever heard it, Sugar stopped giggling offering Addy a concerned look, her eyebrows pulling together softly as she watched the younger girl.
