"You can climb the ice wall here, and then head to the airfield" price spoke pointing to a section on the large map that laid on the table in front of the team. Shepard nodded, one arm crossed across his chest the other hand lifted as he rested his chin on it gently.
"Roach and I will be here providing sniper support if needed" price looked at adder and ghost, under his lashes, as he lent over the map pointing to the ridge they would be on.
"We can use C4 on a fueling station here" ghost moved his gloved hand to part of the map tapping it.
"In case all goes tits up" he chuckled lightly. Adder stood listening to their next mission. They were to go to an airfield in Kazakhstan, and find a downed American satellite before the Russians can crack it.
"Right... bring your thermals"
It. Was. Freezing.
Adder was crouched on the edge of the cliff face, ghost crouched next to her on the small ledge. Their thick clothes heavy on their bodies. Adder exhaled the smoke from her cigarette sliding the packet back into a pocket somewhere on her body.
"In position" Roach's voice rang through their coms. As if on cue engines roared through the air, adder looked up and watched as a low flying Russian MiG flew over head shaking the cliff face slightly.
"Come on. Breaks over" adder chuckled pulling the mouth of her black mask up hoping it would keep her face warm. She slowly stood pressing her back to the ice and shuffled along the thin cliff face. Ghost following her closely.
"Right. I'll check the ice" she pulled the large ice picks from her belt and struck them harshly into the ice as she began climbing.
"Come on ice is good" adder turned her head slightly and watched as ghost dug his ice picks into the wall climbing up next to her.
Adder approached the top of the ice wall as another MiG flew over head cracking the ice, some falling into the unknown depth below her. She lost her grip slightly relying on her right arm to keep her from certain death. Ghost held his breath watching the Sargent as she swung slightly. He was terrified she was going to fall. He shook his head trying to push his feelings aside and focus on the mission. He couldn't have any distractions. He watched as adder skillfully swung her legs digging her feet into the ice, regaining her footing. He sighed heavily continuing up the cliff face.
She pulled herself up and walked to the edge. What should have been a walk way, was replaced with a large fall. Adder turned back seeing ghost pull himself up, she raised her eyebrow slightly at him.
"After you lieutenant?" She smirked watching the taller man as he walked over peering off the edge.
"Ladies first" he smirked back gently bowing. Adder swooned dramatically looking at ghost causing him to laugh slightly.
"Are you always such a gentleman?" She walked further back away from the edge taking a deep breath as she twirled her ice picks around in her hand.
"See you on the other side" she patted ghosts shoulder, with that she sprinted as fast as she could, leaping across the gorge into a thick white cloud. As she hit the other side roughly she dug her ice picks into the ice skidding to a stop. She paused as she saw ghost leaping from the edge flying across the gorge.
He dug his ice picks into the ice and began skidding down
Ghost tried as hard as he could to stop the skidding, the ice pick in his left hand catching a chunk of ice stopping him from falling. His grip long gone on his right hand. He dangled their looking back at the drop, the edge of the cliff above him blocking his vision. But he could hear adder through his coms.
