"What the hell is that noise?"

Bev the care home manager called through the home, the familiar roar of engines filled Addys ears as she stood in the large lounge. Bev walked in looking at the girl. Her blonde bob framing her face. She was a tall woman of a normal build.

Addy and Bev moved towards the window listening to the engines as they filled the air around them. All other noise was drowned out.

Three large Apache helicopters flew over the home, their engines drowning out all other noise. Two other care assistants joined as the helicopters looked incredibly close to the ground.

Addy had seen enough choppers land to know what they were doing. Bev looked at Addy as she watched the choppers disappear behind the tall tree line.

"Army" Addy spoke as she continued watching out the window. Three more passed over, something must have been going on. Training maybe. There was a large common on the other side of the tree line. With large open fields.

"What are they doing here?" Bev chuckled slightly looking at her staff as they watched. The residents seem unbothered by the noise a few questioning what was going on but most just slept through it.

"Does that mean there are hot army men on the other side?" Shannon one of the staff chuckled. She made a dash for the door earning laughter from the remaining staff.

Addy watched wondering maybe price and soap were there. It had been years since she last seen them. She hadn't been able to hold contact with them as she wanted to forget.

Addy moved to the front door opening it and standing in the small car park just as a third lot of three flew over. The wind from the propellers blowing Addy's hair as she smiled widely. Memories flooding back of the times she would watch the choppers land or be jumping out of one. She couldn't help but wonder what they were doing she wanted to know. But at the same time...she didn't.

She stood, suddenly at peace with the world, stood outside her small care home the wind blowing her lose ponytail in all sorts of directions as she watched the helicopters fly to where ever they were going.

"Come on you!" Bev called the woman, she stood in the door watching addy, she noticed she seemed so at peace despite the wind and the loud noise from the engines.

"We have Christmas to prepare for"

As Christmas approached the 141 soldiers were busy preparing. Those going home to see their family's for the holidays quickly packing away their possessions into duffel bags ready to take. Others scribbling cards and letters before the final mail day.

Not much went into decorating the base for the festivities, a small limp tree in one corner of the rec room mostly decorated with toilet paper instead of tinsel, and empty cigarette packets instead of actual decorations.

Every one seemed in an unusually good mood, Christmas spirit and all that. Adder had noticed how even Price seemed more cheery than normal, she would often, when entering his office, find him whistling some Christmas song nodding his head or bouncing his leg in time to the beat.

She noticed the shift in roach, how the young man seemed to revert to a child like state, getting all giddy when talking about Christmas Day, he was sat scribbling letters to his family as he was unable to head home for Christmas but sending a letter and some small gifts wouldn't hurt.

She noticed the change in Ghost the most. While people scribbled letters wide grins on their faces when thinking of their loved ones. Ghost would stand and watch, unmoved. He would stay in his room a lot away from everyone else, barely talking to anyone on the team. The most adder could get as a response was a grunt. Adder sighed trying to think of some way to cheer the lieutenant up. After all it was Christmas.
