The mission was a success. We have Zachaev's location. And tomorrow you will be sent to the gulag to kill him" Shepard spoke. Each of the team sat around the table in the debrief room, Shepard was congratulating them on the successful mission in the favela but something was off.

Adder was distracted as she thought about Rojas, and his reaction to seeing widow. It wasn't just because she was American as she tried to deflect.

But how? How would rojas know widow! Of course she thought widow was sketchy. Shepard just bringing in his own task force to 'help' why wouldn't he just hand the mission off to them.

"We will head into the gulag with full force. Lieutenant you and the team will arrive in choppers, F-15's will be on standby for assistance." Shepard spoke, ghost watched adder, she seemed completely distracted. He'd have to have a word with her after.

"This is our one chance to get the bastards that took soap. Let's not fuck this up" price spoke. Jesus price hadn't mentioned soap after his death. It's been nearly a year now.

"Dismissed" Shepard spoke dismissing the team. Ghost watched as adder stood quickly practically running out of the door. Ghost quickly followed trying to catch up to the Sargent.

"Adder!" He called after the girl, she turned stopping as ghost jogged to catch up with her. He stood in front of her and look down slightly at the girl.

"Everything alright?" He questioned, adder nodded humming a yes before looking over her shoulder, she spotted Nikolai walking down the corridor away from them.

"It's just-" Ghost began before adder cut him off.

"I can't talk right now Simon" she spoke before jogging off calling nikolai's name. Ghost sighed annoyed. He could feel the jealousy bubbling in him again.

"Ah women are tricky" roaches voice rang as he stopped next to the lieutenant, they both watched as adder spoke to Nikolai, they couldn't hear what was being said before the Russian and the Sargent looked over to the pair. Adder grabbed nikolai's arm dragging him away.

"I don't know what your talking about" ghost spoke through gritted teeth. Why was she sneaking around with Nikolai?! Sure Nikolai wasn't old but he was at least late thirties early fourties... to old for adder anyway?! What did Nikolai have that he didn't?!

"A four letter words.... starts with L ends with E" Roach laughed poking ghost, ghost groaned.

"I'm a soldier. Not some love sick teenager Sargent!" Ghost spat before leaving roach stood in the corridor wondering what had gotten into his friend.

"I have a friend I'll speak to him" Nikolai spoke, adder paced around her room as Nikolai leant back on her bed.

"And if im right?" Added questioned pausing to look at Nikolai, she felt sick to her stomach just at the thought. She wouldn't be able to stand it if she was.

"Then we will help" he stood walking over to the girl. He was only slightly taller than her.

"Nikolai... I'm scared. I don't want to be right" she spoke softly looking at him. He wrapped his arms around her hugging her gently.

"Dorogoy we will do this together" he spoke softly.

"I will talk to my friend okay?" Nikolai said after a few moments. Adder nodded stepping away from Nikolai.

"Thank you" she smiled softly, Nikolai laughed looking at the girl.

"You saved my life many years ago... I just hope I don't have to return the favour" he smiled softly.

Ghost sat at the table in the mess hall, papers and plans for the next mission spread across the table in-front of him. The map of the gulag in front of him, he examined every entrance and exit, they had one shot.

He picked at his food mindlessly as he flicked through the papers.

"Hey" adders voice broke his thought as she sat opposite him a tray of food infront of her. He glanced up at her then returned his attention towards the papers.

"Look I'm sorry for running off earlier-" she began, ghost placed his fork down and looked at the girl.

"Adder I need your full attention on this mission" he spoke he was using his lieutenant voice. Adder hated that.

"If you can't focus on the mission you won't be coming" he spoke sternly. Adder sighed softly. She didn't want to argue with ghost, but she didn't want to tell him the truth about what her and Nikolai had been talking about moments before.

"It has my full attention sir" she spoke nodding slightly. He watched her for a moment, something was wrong, he could see it in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" He asked picking his fork back up as he began eating once more, adder eat her food slowly looking at the lieutenant.

"Nothing... just nervous about the mission" ghost raised his eyebrow at the statement, he looked around them, some other soldiers sat eating not many, most were training.

"We have one shot. To get this bastard back for what he did to soap. We can't fuck this up adder" ghost spoke, he knew his words wouldn't bring any comfort to the girl but he couldn't help it, he was unbelievably stressed.

"I know" she nodded gently, they fell into silence eating their own food.

It was late, the knocking at the door woke Simon from a dreamless sleep. He didn't know what was worse, the nightmares or nothing. He groaned looking at the time.

Another soft knock filled the room. He groaned climbing out of bed and walking towards the door.

"This had better be important" he spoke as he opened the door, adder stood in the doorway. She sighed heavily looking up at the lieutenant.

"Can't sleep?" He questioned. Adder nodded sadly as ghost stepped aside allowing the girl into his room. Truth was he had been waiting for her to return to his room. Just to hold her, feel her in his arms.

"Come on" he spoke climbing back into his bed, he shuffled over in the dark allowing the girl to crawl in next to him.

Her skin was cold against his own, he wrapped his arms around her pulling her into his warmth, her lose t-shirt and small shorts providing no warmth. Simon shuddered slightly as her cold finger tips rested on his chest, his chin resting on her head.

"I'm sorry" she mumbled, her voice lost in the darkness of the room.

"what were you and Nikolai talking about earlier?" Ghost questioned, he wanted to know. It had been eating away at him all day.

He wasn't jealous! He wasn't! He wasn't In love with adder, he just about liked her. She was just... just a cuddle buddy. Someone to keep him company late at night.

"It doesn't matter.. it's probably nothing" she spoke softly, Simon looked down at her gently wrapping his arms tighter around her.

"Please don't keep secrets from me" she shifted slightly looking up at him, even in total darkness he could see the outline of her face, the slight shine of her eyes as she watched him.

"Do you trust me?" She whispered, her hand gently reached up touching Simons cheek. He moved his head further into her touch. He thought for a moment. She was a great soldier. Amazing. She was good at what she did.

"Yes" he finally replied. Adder gently lent up pressing her soft lips to his own, his hand found her hip holding her close to his body as they kissed.
