As Ghost continued his story, he seemed to hold everyone in the rooms attention. He told the story of a man with an abusive father, who's family were murdered, and who ultimately got revenge.
He tapped adders hand as he spoke guiding her hand to his sleeve. She slipped two fingers up his sleeve and felt a small pocket knife tucked away. She silently flicked it open to keep everyone's attention away from her, Ghost told the story with such conviction even Mackrov seemed hooked. He had his back to ghost but his head slightly turned showing he was listening to the mans story.
Adder got to work gently sawed away at the ropes that held ghosts hands together then her own. They held their hands behind their backs waiting for the perfect moment a silent plan developed between the two soldiers.
"Sir we have movement outside the perimeter" one man spoke to Mackrov as he looked out a window. Mackrov quickly moved over to the window watching as bushes rustled, he saw a boonie hat just behind one of the bushes.
Mackrov looked at the clock nearly four. He panicked as he grabbed the same blonde hair blue eyed girl from before holding her tightly against him, his pistol pressing into her head. Her eyes connected with adders as tears streamed down her cheeks. Adder shot her a quick wink accompanied by a cheeky smile, before wiggling her hands showing they were free. The girls face lit up in hope. Hoping she would be safe.
"Who are they?!"Mackrov questioned his voice loud enough to make the small girl jump, the panic in his voice evident, adder began to realize he might not have been doing this as long as they thought. Maybe he was inexperienced and that's why he was panicking.
"Excuse me I'm nearly finished" ghost spoke turning to Mackrov. His attitude evident. The children were quietly crying in fear. Their class mate held against Mackrov.
"And all that was left... was a ghost" ghost finished his story nodding at the children. The room was silent, the only noise was the small sobs coming from the children, their teacher gently trying to silence them through her own fear.
"Who are they?!" Mackrov screamed his hair falling in his face as anger and confusion racked through his body.
"Their help!" Ghost yelled jumping up now free, adder mirrored the lieutenant as he ran tackling a man to the floor. He wrestled with the soldier taking his gun and shooting him in the arm. The soldier fell to the floor gripping his arm yelling in pain. Ghost turned the gun to Mackrov aiming at his head steadying his hand. adder ran grabbing the child, adder used her own body to shield the child as Mackrov fired his gun aiming for the girls head but adders shoulder caught the bullet instead.
Addy and the girl fell to the floor as she yelled in pain. The bullet made her shoulder burn, like they used to all those years ago. She quickly pushed the girl to the other children as they huddled around the teacher hiding their faces screaming and crying.
Adder charged at another soldier tackling him to the floor, she connected her fist harshly with his face sending a sickening crack through the class looking over her shoulder she watched as ghost punched Mackrov hard in the face sending him to the floor.
Price and roach smashed through the windows of the class shooting the rest of the soldiers. The class fell silent just the cries of the children being heard. Ghost quickly restrained Mackrov holding his hands behind his back and securing them with cable ties.
" took you long enough" ghost spoke sarcastically to price as the captain moved over to a restrained Makarov. Adder pulled herself from the floor groaning and applying pressure to her new wound.
"Yeah well Roach was busy fixing his hair" price chuckled, roach chuckled under his balaclava, his thick helmet heavy on his head as he held his gun pointing it at the remaining soldiers, they all lowered their weapons holding their hands in the air knowing they weren't going to win this fight.
"Vladimir Makarov. Just the man I'm after" price spoke turning Makarov over with his foot. Makarov watched the captain who stood over him and sighed heavily.
The soldiers were led from the class first clearing them of the children's view. Adder held her shoulder trying to calm the bleeding, the small blonde girl walked over and hugged adder tightly. Adder smiled softly crouching down and wrapped her uninjured arm around the girl, adder rubbed her back softly as the girl cried into her shoulder.
"Thank you" the girl sniffled. Adder smiled softly. Roach was busy talking to the teacher, adder couldn't quite hear what was being said, ghost and price talking, adder noticed ghost kept watching her even as he spoke to price, he was probably trying to explain what happened.
"I was just doing my job" adder turned back to the girl as the as she pulled away. the girl watched as a strand of adders wet hair fell in her face.
"I wanna be just like you when I'm older" the girl smiled, adder chuckled lightly and moved a strand of hair from the girls face.
"Are you sure? You have to be really brave?" Adder smiled looking at the girl. The girl thought for a moment before nodding excitedly at adder.
"Yup" she replied a wide smile on her face. Price patted ghosts shoulder, ghost nodded before walking over to adder and the small girl.
"Was that story real?" The girl asked turning her attention towards ghost. He crouched down joining adder at the girls level.
"Real enough for them... was just buying us time" he spoke softly through his mask, his glasses were lost somewhere and he had a deep cut on his eyebrow, blood trickling down past his nose.
"It was about you wasn't it?" The girl questioned looking at ghost, adder watched an expression she had never seen crossed the lieutenants eyes, she could tell he was smiling but it was a sad smile. His eyes were soft as they watched the girl.
"That's for a different time" he smiled as he lifted the girl carrying her from the room. Adder following close behind holding her shoulder trying to ease the pain
