She felt empty.
Price sat behind his desk, head dropped as ghost and herself stood before him. She couldn't hear what he was saying, his lips moving as he tried to explain what happened but nothing registered with her, her only friend, her only family had gone.
Soap was her brother and he did it well, he was loyal to her unwilling to get her in trouble even with price, fiercely defensive of her and as annoying as a brother.
She only knew soap was dead. Her brother was gone at Zachaev's hands, price had explained how soap was shot before being dragged away, price had barely made it out alive and it tore him up inside knowing he couldn't even bring the younger captains body back, that his family snd his team would never have the closure of a burial, that Zachaev had done god knows what to a person he saw as a son.
"You didn't try" Adder mumbled, the anger bubbled violently inside her, she blamed price, blamed him for keeping her here, she wondered if it would have been diffrent, if she had of gone would soap still be here with them. The captain fell silent.
"What did you fucking say?" the captain spat, his head slowly lifted as he watched adder, her jaw tightened before relaxing.
"I said you didn't fucking try. Sir" she spoke louder, her words travelling through the room and hurting price worse than any bullet could. He knew how much soap had meant to not just her but the team,
"You weren't there... Sargent!" The captain spat back. He pushed himself up with a painful groan, leaning heavily on the desk infront of him.
"No because you fucking left me here like some school child!" Adder defended, she was at a breaking point.
"Because your a fucking liability! You make wrong decisions! And it cost you your whole team once! I'll be damned if I let you make the same mistake!" The captain shouted, his words filled the room bouncing off every wall attacking her in a barrage.
Adder fell silent at the captains words, her jaw tensed as she turned away slightly. So that's what he really thought? All that bull crap about it not being her fault... lies. She knew it was her fault and price continued to tell her it wasn't. But no it was her fault... even in prices eyes.
"Fuck off out of my sight... the both of you" he spat, his head dropping between his shoulders. , Adder was the first to leave, ripping the door open as she stormed from the office. Ghost sighed heavily looking between the door and price.
"You tried your hardest... thats all that matters" he spoke standing by the door, the captain didn't acknowledge his words, ghost left the office closing the door gently behind him. He heard the primal scream that left prices lips, the sound of things being thrown across the office smashing in various corners as he expelled his rage the only way he knew how to.
She sat on a grass verge at the edge of the camp, the cold English night chilling her. She ripped a stem of grass from the ground ripping it up and throwing it before repeating the process, she shivered slightly a chill running down her spin as her clothes did little to keep any warmth in.
"You alright?" A voice called from behind her, she didn't turn as Ghost joined her sitting himself on the grass verge. He brought his knees up gently resting his arms on them.
"What come to kick me while I'm down?" She scoffed, she continued her assault on the grass ready to remove every single blade of grass one by one until her anger had been spent. Ghost sighed leaning his head up towards the night sky.
"I thought you could use someone to talk to" adder paused her assault on the grass and turned her head towards ghost. He didn't remove his eyes from the stars illuminating the black sky.
