An Enemy Who Loves You

Chapter 27

The sound of crickets was the only thing to cut the silence in the dark cold forest. A man lay crumpled on the forest floor, dead. A slight breeze blew between the trees,

a sharp intake of breath was heard although quiet the still night made it sound deafening. The crumpled form of the would-be dead councilman Yates slowly and sharply started to rise, stumbling and breathing raggedly Yates stood hunched over. He huffed then started laughing, laughing like a madman and the crickets went quiet.

Suddenly he screamed a blood-chilling scream, not out of pain but one of anger, a scream from a man who was wronged.

 A burning sensation filled Yates' stomach and he was hungry he needed to feed and he needed it right now. A flash of red hair crossed Yates's no longer sane mind and he started walking.

Silent was the night as he stumbled further into the forest,

and the crickets were long gone.

"I have a plan," Rosa said, the two humans had started their journey and were sitting on a wagon being lead by a horse.

"I know she wants us to save her" Rosa added looking straight ahead at the path before them feeling Mai turn to look at her.

"how do you know for sure? what if she's happier this way" Mai said dishearteningly staring at the ground, 

"she told me before she wouldn't like who she would become with him and I think him giving her his blood took away some of the resistance she had to him causing her to lean towards him. But you saw her she still doesn't want this she needs us to stop her" Rosa explained urgently

"stop her? you don't mean" Mai's eyes wide staring at Rosa in horror

"yes" Rosa responded with her face as hard as stone,

"no" Mai all but cried 

Rosa looked at her sharply "you know, as well as I, she wishes for death but she's a warrior she needs a warriors death"

"I'm with you on saving her but not the death" Mai looked stern yet albeit a little pouty.

"that's all I need" Rosa nodded then smiled "now let's go save our vampire"
