Later on, Emma brought her mother down to sit with them in the living room. They sat there watching the boys play the video games. Her mother had brought down her knitting to finish. She sat in her wheelchair next to the sofa where Emma and Jason sat while the boys sat on the floor against each end. Emma's mother looked from Emma and Jason to their clasped hands on the sofa.
"So Jason was your stakeout any fun last night?" Emma's mother asked
"As fun as two grown men drinking coffee and sitting in a car all night can be, Emily." He said with a smile on his face.
"I am glad to see that you have finally made my daughter smile. I don't think I have seen her smile like that since she was seven and got her easy-bake oven for Christmas." Emily said as she went back to her knitting.
"I'm glad to make your daughter smile Emily." Jason said as he squeezed Emma's hand tighter.
"Mom, how about I take you up stairs so you can rest a little before I make dinner." Emma said as she started to get up.
"Emma Jane Anderson if I wanted to rest I would ask you to take me upstairs. If you want to go make dinner; then go on and make dinner. I am content watching the boys play their videogames." Emily said then went back to her knitting as if nothing had been said. While everyone stared at her then looked at Emma who looked like she was about to cry as she got up and walked into the kitchen.
"Aw mom did you have to make her cry she was just trying to make you feel comfortable." Logan said as he got up to follow Emma into the kitchen. He handed his controller to Jason as he walked by. "Give me a minute to talk to her then you can go kiss her better man."

"Emma?" Logan said as he walked into the kitchen.
"Logan just go back out in the living room I will be fine." Emma said as she took out the makings for chicken and pasta.
"Emma she gets like that some times. She doesn't know what she says some times the doctor said just to brush it off." Logan said as he hugged his sister.
"I know Logan it just came as a shock to me that's all. I just wish I would have gotten here sooner so that I could have been more help. Now go and play video games I will be fine." She said as she turned back to cutting up the chicken.
When she knew Logan had left she took out the bottle of scotch she knew her dad kept in the cupboard above the stove and poured herself some.
That's how Jason found her when he came in. "You want to pour me some of that?" He asked as he came up behind and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Here you can finish the rest of mine." She said when she put the bottle back in the cupboard. She handed him the glass and went back to the chicken.
"Do you want some help with making dinner Em?" He asked after he drained the glass and put it in the sink.
"You can sit at the breakfast bar and look sexy while I cook." She said as she put the chicken in the pan to fry. When she turned back around to see him doing just that; she leaned over the counter and kissed him on the cheek. "And while you are sitting there looking sexy you can think about how I'm not wearing anything under my jeans." She said as she pulled back to stir the chicken. When she looked over her shoulder, she saw he was staring at her butt and moving in his seat to get comfortable.
