As she cooked dinner they talked about each other's lives and about what they wanted in the future. When dinner was almost done he set the table for them to eat. Jason felt as though he could get comfortable doing this. He felt as though that as long as Emma was included in his future he could get comfortable with doing anything that reminded him of marriage and family. He walked back in the kitchen to see her draining the water from the noodles and putting the sauce in the pan to heat. He thought that he could get comfortable with coming home at night to see her doing just that. He loved her. Though he just met her he loved her, it felt as if he had known her all his life. He walked over and turned her to him and kissed her.
When he broke the kiss he leaned in close to her ear to whisper to her. "Emma I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know we just met but I want a future with you. I'm not saying we should run off and get married but I want a future with you Emma." He pulled back to look at her and see her reaction. When she pulled his head down and kissed him as though her life depended on it, he took that as though she felt the same.
"Jason I love you too. I was just standing here thinking that I wanted to cook dinner for you for the rest of my life." When she turned back around to stir the sauce he wrapped his arms around her waist and held her. Nothing could ruin this moment he thought; until Logan and Evan came in to check on dinner.
"Mom is at the table and we are hungry when is dinner going to be ready?" Logan said as he walked to the fridge and pulled out a soda for him and Evan.
"It is ready now, go sit at the table and I will bring it out." Emma said as she put the chicken on the pasta and sauce and put in all in bowl when she looked out the window on her way to the dining room she saw it was raining. Thinking it was odd that she had not seen a rain cloud all day she placed the bowl on the table and sat down in between Jason and her mother.
They talked about the boys school work and them turning sixteen and leaning to drive. When Emma began to clear the table was when she heard the thunder. She forgot how much she hated thunder storms. She took the dishes into the kitchen and started to load the dishwasher when the power went out, causing her to scream.
When she felt arms go around her she screamed again. "Honey it's just me don't worry the generator will kick on in a second." Jason said as he kissed the top of her head. "I didn't mean to scare you Emma I didn't. Logan said how much you hated thunder storms and I came to check on you." He ran his hand up and down her arms trying to make her less scared.
When the generator came on she looked up at Jason. "I don't want you driving in this. You can stay here tonight." When he started to protest she shook her head. "I mean it Jason I don't want you driving in this it's dangerous." She kissed him on the cheek and went to make sure her mother was ok.
He was still standing there when Logan and Evan walked in the kitchen. "You might as well just give in and stay. Since dad died she has hated thunder storms. Before she used to sit on the porch with dad and watch them now she can't stand them. She won't want you to drive in it only for the fear of losing you. I can tell she loves you I can see it in her eyes. If she where to lose you and then lose mom too it would be too hard for her so just make her happy and stay." Logan said coming to stand next to Jason.
