“Welcome to the coffee shop; Ciel, Leigh and Will!” Blaire exclaims, striding in through the doors of the coffee shop. She points at each person and explains their shifts and what to sew on their aprons.

“Well we haven’t actually decided who’s doing the sewing…” Spencer starts.

“I volunteer as tribute!” The girl with the platinum blonde pixie cut perks up, raising her head from the book she was reading. I think her name was Ciel.

“Woah, fangirl alert!” He smirks, raising his hands in fake shock.

“May the odds be ever not in your favour, dear tribute.” She says, rolling her eyes and sticking her face back into the book.

“Honestly, Spencer, do not insult a fangirl!” I sigh, shaking my head slowly and raising my eyebrows to Ciel, who smiles slightly in response.

“Oops. Err… Sorry?” He asks, raising his shoulders.

“I’m just kidding, kiddo. Don’t get so worked up over it.” Ciel says, raising her eyes from her book only to give Spencer a strange look.

“Did she just give me a death stare? She just gave me a death stare, didn’t she?” He questions, looking over at Blaire and I.

“How am I meant to know, Generator? She wasn’t even looking at me.” Blaire exhaled, raising an eyebrow and looking down at the three brown aprons in her hands.

“So, you start tomorrow, but for now I’ll let Anna and Spencer teach you how to work the machines and that. To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know how to use them myself!” Marcus laughs, sipping a small cup of tea and nestling it in his hands.

“Right! So to start the machine up, you press this button here. Then, for lattes you press this, for cappuccinos and mochas you press this, for mochas you add this shot over here….” Spencer rattles on, pointing at bottles and buttons and cups all around the room. I pull my hands up to my head and rub them on my forehead. The bump, from the brick, is still sore to touch. It probably shows too, even though I’ve tried so hard to cover it with my hair.

“Hey, Anna, you okay?” Leo asks, looking over at me from his conversation with Kenna about… something.

“I’m fine, honestly.” I sigh, blinking hard to try and shift the headache.

“Ah, cool beans.” Leo replies, turning back to his conversation with Kenna.

“Right! So Spencer hasn’t told you but back there is the kitchen,” I start, joining back into the conversation.

“Right, Anna. Thats where we hold little truth or dare sessions after closing time every so often. In fact, I’ll schedule one for tonight to celebrate you guys joining the Cafe crew!” Spencer continues for me, smiling widely as he plans for tonight.

*******That Night*******

“I’m back!” I call, pushing the front door open with my shoulder and walking into the room. Everyone’s sitting in a big circle in the main cafe area, the chairs pushed to each side to create space.

“We ran out of space back there,” Marcus says, standing up and taking a couple of the bags off of me, smiling at me as he does it.

“Thanks,” I say, smiling and sitting down next to him and chucking out everyone’s sweets. “Gummy bears for Blaire, Cola bottles for Marcus, cream soda for yours truly, crisps for Leo, Kenna and Spence and gummy worms for the rest of you guys.” I recite, chucking the remainder of the bag in Will, Leigh and Ciel’s direction.
