PART NINETEEN

Christopher Rodriquez' POV

As the time ticked off, the pages kept turning.

I laughed at how I disappointed her during our proposal.

Damn! She has a funny way of writing things. I knew she felt bad at that time, but reading it now and the way Ashley had mentioned it, made me laugh.

After she had come to Iowa, it was just me in the whole diary.

Ashley and Me. That's what the whole diary of twelve years back contained.

And there was small-small mentions about her family in between. How she fought with her parents on call and about her grandparents.

I picked up the eleven years back diary and through the mid-way, I found myself getting carried away. I fortunately saw the time and closed the diary.

By hook or crook, I need to make up with Olivia tomorrow. So, it was better to sleep and wake up early. I kept the diaries in my cupboard and locked it.

As I was about to sleep, I texted Sky.

'Up?'

'Yes! I have to.
What about you?
Why are you awake still?'

'Just like that.'
'Call?'

I waited for the reply.
There was no sign of a typing!

I dropped my phone next to me and adjust the pillows.

And then my phone vibrated.

The Caller ID read 'SCARLETT SKY'

I answered the call.

"Hello?" She whispered.

"Why are you whispering like this?" I said laughing as her voice came out more as a squeal.

"Because I'm in hospital and kids are sleeping. Now, stop laughing." She said in a fake anger tone.

"Okay, okay." I relaxed and tried to control my laughter.

"Wait. Let me get to my cabin." She said and there was moment of silence. I waited. All I could hear was breeze and suddenly the voice boomed.

"Why did you want to call?"

"Just like that. I was reading the diaries and..."

I suddenly heard a door opening and a male voice through the phone.

"One minute, Chris!" I heard her say.

Okayyy! Who was that?

Scarlett Finney's POV

As I was about to enter the cabin, I saw Cole walking opposite. I waved at him and got in.

As soon as I sat in the chair talking to Chris, the door opened and Cole started blabbering something so fast.

"One minute, Chris!" I said on the call.

"What?" I asked Cole.

"Who are you talking to?" I heard both of them say at the same time.

"It is Chris on call" I said to Cole and smiled.

"And Cole is in my cabin." I said to Chris. I heard Chris 'Ooh'.

I walked to Cole and was about to hand over the phone to him.

"Cole, Chris wants to talk to you? Do you mind?"

I heard Chris shouting 'No No'. Cole shook his head in hesitation. His eyes popped out as I kept my phone on his ears.
