PAST

My parents usually engage on medical camps every now and then... And that is how I landed on a town in Iowa on a summer vacation twelve years back.

It was the first day of our visit. I had slept the moment I crashed on bed. When I woke up, I didn't find my parents and heard from the servant that they had gone to meet the authorities. I sulked and walked back to the kitchen to make a coffee for me.

I was walking in the backyard and then decided to head out. The whole town was incredibly clean and not a crowded place like the city. I walked through the streets and there were faces that greeted me with a smile. Some just glanced and continued their work. I walked and there was a hoarding that read, 'Sunset point'. This... This is the place I am going to spend the whole vacation I decided and walked to find a rock to sit on.

PEACEFUL! That is the one word that came to my mind. I could hear the nature... Yes, I heard. It was far far away from any human noise. Just some birds and breeze.

It was about to sunset. The whole place was lit in yellow and was turning dark.

"It is going to get dark. Do you want me to drop you inside the town?" I heard a voice and snapped turn. "Sorry... I didn't mean to scare you." He spoke and I noticed to see a boy of my age standing with a bike.

"No. It is okay. I like it here." I said smiling.

"May I join then?" He asked and I was surprised. I nodded a little hesitant.

"Sure. The sunset is beautiful." I said and he walked to stand next to me. I made space was him to sit and he shook his head. I shrugged and he gasped, "Don't miss that!"

He said and pointed at the red fire ball burning that was descending slowly. I gasped as this was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. The whole place was lit in orange as the sky was lit in violet pink red mixed with clouds scattered. It looked scenic.

"I'm Chris. Nice to meet you..." He paused and extended his hand.

"I'm Scarlett. You can call me Sky and nice to meet you too." I shook his hand and smiled back.

"Scarlett Sky." He chuckled getting me confused.

"Your name is kind off defining this place. They should probably name it that way." I realized what he was talking about and laughed along with him.

We stood there talking about each other. He afford me a ride to my place.

As he dropped me in the cottage, I thanked him and walked away.

"Scarlett Sky... You are different." I turned and looked at him. He smiled repeating it again. "You are different."

"You also! Hope to meet you soon. Take care." I said smiling and waved at him.

"You too." He said and pedaled the cycle. As he went, I walked to my cottage and found my parents sitting in the backyard.

"How was your day?" I asked and sat next to them.
