Over the next few days, he tries to grasp a source for the demon side of him.
Theoretically speaking, it had to exist. All demons had some sort of feral, hunger for human flesh, blood and vitality that they thrived on. The very same hunger drove them to great prowess and gifted them with the demon blood arts, supernatural strength, speed and reflexes, as well as a high regeneration.
As he poured over the texts, he was alone in the cabin with Ren, who snoozed away in the pile of towels as he sat close to the fireplace. Masahiko, he assumed had to be some sort of demon hunter. His knowledge of traps, and these texts, all led to this conclusion. But in that case, he had still chosen to save him.
There was something stopping him from using his flame breath as well.
He needed to find that, and overcome it.
But first, he needed to fully heal his solar plexus, and give himself back the ability to walk.
Masahiko was gone for the vast majority of the day, which left him a lot of time to pour over the texts and he strangely did not feel hungry at all, and he simply only drank the water in the jug, which tasted sweet and soothing. He tied his hair up, as he reads, and keeps on reading.
He needed to find out more about the regenerative abilities of a demon. There were only three things which prevented it.
Sunlight, Wisteria and decapitation.
He was weak to sunlight, no question.
Moving on, Wisteria and decapitation were two big no's to his survival.
There were no accounts of demonification, or hybrids, but he wondered where Masahiko had gotten those ideas from. If a demon could retain their sanity, as well as immunity to sunlight, and yet their supernatural strength and abilities, that would make them even worse than normal demons. Particularly since they could walk amongst humans without any notice or form of identification.
But the main takeaway from his own experience with demons was that it only took place when they were in high risk situations.
Perhaps the damage done to him had been incomplete, but Akaza had said that he would still be able to heal from those so long as he turned into a demon. So, he should be able to live, right?
He glances at the shards of his nichirin blade.
Explanation
'He strangely did not feel hungry at all, and he simply only drank the water in the jug, which tasted sweet and soothing.'
- The water tastes as such for a reason. This ties in to his demon side as well, and the water is able to stave off his hunger. What do demons like?
'He wondered where Masahiko had gotten those ideas from.'
- Masahiko knows more than an average man living in the woods. Particularly regarding demons. There's more to him than it seems.
'It only took place when they were in high risk situations.'
- This refers to the regenerative abilities of demons which are at their peak when in battle, or when their lives are in danger, alluding to how in order to heal himself, he will have to plunge himself into a similar state to fully heal.
'Perhaps the damage done to him had been incomplete, but Akaza had said that he would still be able to heal from those so long as he turned into a demon.'
- However, even after he's been turned into a demon, his injuries still have not healed. This shows that he is at this point, still more human than he is a demon, where he has not gained the full regenerative abilities at this point in time.
