"Young Kanao! Leave. Now!" Kyojuro shouted at her as the tsuguko looked at him with a torn reluctance in her eyes. She couldn't leave him....not after she saw how distraught Tanjirou, Zenitsu and Insouke had been after his death. Did she not have enough faith in a Hashira?
"But- But- I can't-" She stutters, eyes looking between him, the demon, Fuyuko, the fox eyed woman as well as her other comrades. Nobu stares back down at them, criticism evident in his eyes. A moment resonating with his past. That was what it was.
"I'll be fine! Just protect yourself and the others! I'll handle him. Trust me, alright?" Kyojuro gives her a passionate smile, as he prepares himself. He would not die. Not like how he had perished against Akaza. Not like how he had left Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Boar-head boy alone. Not while he needed to return to tell his family that he was alive.
"I will make it back." He continues, a line filled with burning, determination, as he tightens his hand over the hilt of his sword. And that line alone tells Kanao what she already knows. She placed her faith in this man.
This was the same man who had tried his best to hunt down the Upper Moon who had killed her eldest sister, and demolished half the lower ranked demon moons in order for Shinobu-san to have some closure. He was not successful, but he was filled with an undying passion.
She nods, as she retreats, picking up the woman with the fox like eyes as she did so, bring her out whilst the demon let their conversation go undisturbed.
While she could not aid him in this fight, she would be the messenger.
To pass on the message that he still lived.
And she leaves.
Leaving Kyojuro alone with Fuyuko and the demon.
-
And this is where Fuyuko coughed up the demon blood in her mouth.
It was all she could do.
Unable to bear it any longer, she turned and looked up at Rengoku-san, who drew his blade so fast the only thing she knew was the sound of steel against steel as he picked her up and leapt away from the altar.
"Fuyuko! Thank you for not drinking the blood! I'm sorry you had to go through all of that!" He spoke, as he hoisted her over his shoulder, and he was so fast she barely had time to react to his movements.
Latent Blood Demon Art: Honing Predator
Kyojuro brought up his blade as he cut through all of the projectiles which were moving towards him, from banisters to sharp wooden shards, metal rods, cloth, fabric, and from beyond his usual range of hearing, he could hear the creak of wood throughout the temple, the shattering of ice, as his eyes tracked each and every projectile honing on around his being, cutting through a ceramic pot diagonally, he traced for where the doors of the temple were supposed to be, only finding them bolted shut and being barricaded by all of the projectiles in which he had managed to deflect or managed to cleave through.
Nobu hadn't been aiming for him.
He had been aiming for the door.
The left wing was collapsed, but if he could get Fuyuko to the exit where he and Yousuke had managed to find their way into the main hall by, he knew Yousuke would be there, waiting for him.
"Kyojuro."
"Do not taint my name." She responded, as he turned away from the door, and shifting the handle of his sword down closer to his hilt, the cold beckoned him to cut the chains hanging the bell over the altar. A distraction would be needed, and Nobu stood directly beneath the bell. Nobu would not see it immediately, and his reaction time would be delayed.
