Better Nights

"Why? What's wrong?" He asked, previous smirk faltering.

"Don't worry, she's not hurt or anything." Endie answered, closing his eyes. "She's been in her own world lately, drifting off and it taking me a minute just to bring her back. She'd act like nothing happened but I can tell her mind was still there."

"Well dang." He mumbled. "How do I fix that?"

"Maybe try actually talking with her instead of thinking you can fix everything bothering her?" He just about sang. "Seriously, dude. If it's something in her mind, how exactly do you plan on helping that?"

"Not being so stupid."

"She likes you for your stupid. Also your not always stupid, just dense."

"You switch lile a god damn coin, Ender."

"I'm the mediator, what do you expect?"

"But hey, my best friend is my queen's best friend, which means I have a spy for these situations." Brine chuckled and Endie rolled his eyes, actually opening them now.

"Sorry, Brine. If she tells me not to tell you something, I'm siding with her."

"But Whhy?"

"You of all people are asking me that?" Endie chuckled, smirking slightly.

"Fair enough. Fair enough." Brine chuckled, lying his head down in front of Endie. "Geez this one put up a fight, I need a nap."

"Your whole life is naps."
"And their freaking amazing, your point?"

"Touche."

"Mr. Steal-Yo-Man, too, huh?" Bones chuckled, coming down the hall with Creeps and a zombie-like Maxine.

"Maxine? Why are you up?" Endie asked, siting up. Herobrine sat up but didn't bother to get up, only turning to look at them.

"Next time you and Creeps want to stay up till after midnight, leave me out of it." She mumbled. Endie and Creeps laughed, Bones and Herobrine simply smiling. She was barely even opening her eyes, much less walking like a normally functioning person. She felt drained from earlier but it worked out. Seeing as she's like this every morning, it's not hard to hide it behind simply being tired.

"Than what are you doing out here?"

"I heard they guys were back and wanted to see Hero." She whined.

Endie smiled wider and stood up, watching as said phantom teleported away only to pop up beside her. He smirked and snaked his arms around her waist, happily.

"Morning to you, too, Sunshine."

"Nooo," She pouted, lying her head on his chest. "Let's go to bed."

"Of course, Maxie."

Endie smirked and shook his head. Utterly obsessed, she has him wrapped around her pinkie with some kind of haze. She smiled softly and waved towards everyone else.

"Night, guys."

"Night, Max. Don't you pull anything, Brine." Creeps laughed.

"Whaaaat? I'd never do anything."

"Clearly." Bones jabbed and everyone else laughed. Even Maxine held back a snicker while Wither fully laughed out loud from the kitchen. Herobrine rolled his eyes and in seconds they were gone.

"Everything OK, Maxine?" Herobrine asked, hugging me tighter under the covers. Big red blankets covered us, somehow cool against the hot surroundings. The whole bed was, like all the others here but somehow, this one felt so much comfier to me. Totally not because he's here holding me, absoulutely not that. "This is pretty out of character for you."

"I-I had a pretty bad nightmare." Not wrong but not right. In all honesty I was still shaken by what happened earlier and I was hoping to ask Creeps or Endie to stay with me until I was better. However, as soon as I knew Hero was in a good mood I wanted him instead. I just hope it lasts. "I didn't expect you guys to be home though. How'd your mission go?"

"...Let's not talk about it. Work stays put of bed." He grumbled, cuddling me closer I giggled and opened my eyes a little, seeing him smile down at me.

"Stay like this for me." I said, smiling contently as I closed my eyes again. It came out as an order instead of a question and I can't say I mind. Despite his scary outbursts, I feel a little more confident around him.

"Like what?" He chuckled.

"Calm." I answered simply. "Calm and happy and with me."

"Hehe, Of course, Maxie.~" He purred. "I need to wake you up early more often, I'm enjoying this."

"Nooo." I whined, making him full on laugh this time. "Now shhhh. Bedtime."

"Fine. Goodnight, Maxine."
"Goodnight."
