Maxine's POV

The ball was full of people as I watched from my room upstairs. I wasn't allowed to come out yet. I looked down self consciously at my big dark blue ball gown. My blond hair had no traces of red and was down, falling behind me.

My father came in and smiled, taking my hand and pulling me towards the door. I didn't fight it, I couldn't. I didn't want to get punished anymore.

I miss Herobrine. I miss the others also but I was with him most weather we liked it or not, and it was usually the last one.

We got to the railing and he got everyone's attention.

"Hello everyone!" He greeted the smiling faces. I smiled, having to as instructed by my brother beside me.

"We are glad to see you all here!" My brother said. "And we are glad to finally announce that the princess is back and back to her regular duties as such."

They all cheered below me and that is when I saw him. His hair was slicked back some but a unmanageable mess as usual. He had in a black suit and a red tie, talking to a man a dark brown suit with and equally red tie. I locked eyes with his glowing ones for a few seconds then tore my gaze away to walk downstairs to the rest of the guests.

I wanted to go straight for Herobrine, I wanted to hear his deep voice again, no matter what douchy or sarcastic thing he had to say.

But I couldn't.

I was haunted by what he did to me, not the pain from his roughness but the hurt from him betraying me. I didn't even know if he wanted to see me. So I tried.

I tried to avoid him, stay away from him and the guests he seemed to know. I flinch every now and then from the bruises hidden by make up on my arms and legs. I had to act happy, I had to be a princess.

I stopped at a couch to rest from the game of ring-around-the-ball and faking the smile. I looked up and saw Herobrine and his friend coming over. I quickly jumped up and fast walked through the crowd till I got out the large ballroom doors. I made sure the coast was clear then ran down the hall, my heels clicked as I went to the back glass doors and pushed it open.

I caught my breath and started walking. I'm in the garden, a large square shaped maze of oak leaf hedges. I passed cube-y little roses and yellow flowers, finding the silence both creepy and calming. I heard rustling and smiled, knowing I could lose anyone but my brother in here.

When me and my brother were younger we explored this whole maze, every dead end and edge, all the way to the middle. I got to the middle and stared at the slightly crumbling stone fountain.

I heard more rustling and jumped, going to hide behind the cubed oak tree in front of me, but my dress would never be hidden.

"I know your there, Max." I heard his deep voice sigh. I took in a breath and peeked from behind the tree. He frowned. I couldn't say he didn't look nice in that suit. "Why are you running from me?"

"I didn't think you would want to see me." I said quietly. He sighed and came over, taking my hand from the tree and pulled me gently from behind it. He looked me over then chuckled. "What?"

"I never actually took the time to look at you that much. Your look really cute with blond hair." He smirked. I went red.

"W-why are you here?"

"Your dad invited me." He shrugged. "Come dance with me."

"But.."

He took my silence as a yes and with a blink of my eye we were in the hallway. We walked in and he lead me to the middle and put a hand on my hip. I put mine on his shoulder and he held the other up, our fingers entertwined.

We started slow but soon was at full speed and I actually found it fun. He spun me and I smiled, laughing. When did he become so smooth?

"When did you become so smooth?" I giggled. He shrugged with a smirk on his face. His gaze fell to my arms, I followed them to a deep purple bruise showing from the edge of my sleeve.

"They did that, didn't they?" He asked, a slight hint of anger in his face.

"Herobrine?" I asked and he rose an eyebrow. We slowly circled in our dance, hardly paying any attention to anyone else unless it was to dodge them. "What happened to you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You hated me, was extremely rough to me, always found a way to insult me then make it a little better. What happened?"

He hesitated then sighed. Before he could say anything I heard my father's voice say that everyone should go home. Herobrine leaned to my ear and I blushed.

"I'll tell you tonight, OK?"

And with that, he was gone.

I think I love him....
