Chapter X

Okay, so last chapter in WUTBM. I love all of you so fucking much and I hope your not mad at me for ending the series here. I want you, the fans, to come up with what happens. I am so fucking thankful to all of you for reading!

"Hey, Shi." Adam called. Shiro looked up from his device to his boyfriend.
"Yeah, Love?" He said.
"Can you come check this out for me? I think it might work but I'm not sure."
"First of all, most of your ideas work."
"See, you say that now but a week ago it was a different story." He teased.
"Anyway, what's this?" Shiro asked as he pointed to the computer on Adam's lao. "It's a weapon, a strong one, but I don't know if it'll work."
Shiro examined what Adam had created.
"Ads, you're literally a genius." He exclaimed softly.
"I don't know, it would take a lot of preparation and time we don't have. Plus I'm not even allowed to leave this room for four more days."
"Yeah, and you have a good reason not to." Shiro gestured to the wound on Adam's torso.
"It's not that bad."
"Adam, you got stabbed. Give it a rest."
Adam sighed.
"But, Ads, this could seriously work. You're going to save lives."
"You really think that?"
"Yes, when have a doubted you?"
"Do you really want me to start with that?"
"I take it back. Anyway, it's midnight, please come to bed."
Adam chuckled and shut his computer.Thanks to Allura they actually were able to get a bed that was actually build for two people so Adam had officially moved into Shiro's room. Shiro, as usual, laid down closer to the wall while Adam took the opposite. Adam pressed back against Shiro's chest before he wrapped his arms around the brunette.
"Goodnight, Takashi. I love you." He whispered.
"Night, Ads. I love you to."

Flashback

Shiro had pulled Adam out onto the deck of the condo they had rented for the week. Despite Adam's protests Shiro had convinced him to take a road trip to California during the summer. Adam was watching the waves in the night. They were calm and soft. The stars shone above him. The night, in Adam's mind, was perfect, little did he know it was a about to get a thousand times better.
Shiro came out holding two glasses of wine, which he kept one for himself and gave one to Adam.
"Thanks, Takashi." He said before taking a small sip.
"Adam, there's something I've been meaning to ask you. By the end of it, hopefully you'll understand why I brought you here in the first place."
Adam raised his eyebrow at his boyfriend, a smile plastered on his face. Shiro backed up a step and reached in a his pocket. Adam placed his wine glass on the railing of the deck. That when he saw it, a small, leather, black box. He looked Adam in the eyes before getting down on one knee.
Adam couldn't proses what was happening.
"Adam, you are the love of my life. With out you I'd probably have burnt my house down if you'd hadn't taught me not to put metal in the microwave." Adam giggled softly. "You taught me so much about myself. You quite literally saved my life, I love you so much, Adam. Will you marry me?"
Adam could barely think straight. One word. One simple word. One word that meant everything.
"Yes."
Shiro's lips curved into a smile.
"Really?"
"Yes."
Shiro stood up and kissed his now fiancée deeply.
He wiped the tears of joy from Adam's eyes and kissed his forehead.
Adam examined the ring for a few seconds.
"Do you like it?" Shiro asked anxiously.
"Takashi, it's beautiful."
Shiro slipped the ring onto Adam's finger slowly.
"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Adam."
"Then let's start now."

End of flashback

Adam woke up from his dream with a grin on his face. He looked over his shoulder to see Shiro fast asleep.
He started for a second. He realized If he could change anything he's ever done, he wouldn't stop Shiro from going on Kerberos, he wouldn't stay in Earth instead of going after him in space. He would not end things like he hid over a year ago. He would tell him that when Shiro got back he would be there, even if he didn't make it back. He would love Shiro for longer.
In the last moments of peace the two would not have again for so long, Adam knew Shiro was the one. He had always known, but sometimes it just took enough aliens and war to remind you of what you threw away. A month ago he was willing to throw away everything for him. And the last thing he had said to him before he pushed him into the ship he meant with all his heart. He promised him forever.

"I love you, Takashi, don't forget that."

Forever would never be long enough.
