They ignored you
When you were younger
And because it made
You feel bad about yourself
You thought of it
As a form of punishment
But it wasn't
It was just their lack of the ability
To truly care for you properly
That made them leave you alone
And now you are projecting that
Onto your relationship with your friend
And trying to convince yourself
That he doesn't care anymore
But you know, deep inside you
That he cares
And he wouldn't leave you
Or treat you this way
Because he is not them
He is a loving person
With a pure heart
And good taste in music
And generally
A fucking awesome personality
He loves you
Don't let the past cloud that
The rain will not descend
For your eyes are no longer wet
And your past does not control you
Do not let it in again
Close the door on that pain
Live like you love life again
