"Much happened in the time between when Jet first emerge to this entry, but I won't bore you with details, anyway, what were we doing...?

The concept, when first brought up, seemed improbable and far-fetched. But now, we were so much closer after millennium of evolution and discovery. Just recently we had flown to another planet close to ours, and were now encouraging the growth of other gems such as ourselves. Our old planet was still thriving, but we had expanded and lived in perfect symbiosis with it. We had attempted to destroy as minimal as possible because one way or another, we were tied to the organic aspect of our planet. Coral was a rock that was formed out of micro organisms, Jet was condensed wood fibers that became rock over millions of years, Pearl was formed within oysters because of the environment, and I was formed out of hardened tree resin. But once, after digging out a crater of rock for a new building, we discovered Gemstones. They were like us, but they weren't sentient, and they formed within rock, unlike most of us. I guess Jet could be an exception, but they were in a class of their own. That's right, there were more of her. They were more rare than us Ambers, but there were a good amount of them within our civilization.

We decided to try something. Something radical, we were going to extract the life from our planet and inject it into one of the rock faces. But we needed to test something beforehand.

"Mhmm! Yep, this will work!" Coral said to me.

"Are you sure? Its a strange looking device." I commented, staring at the thing she had built. It was twice as tall as me, or at least the main body was. It was a cylinder, at least 12 feet tall, and on top of it was a smooth area. On its bottom were six spindly, long legs, five feet each by my approximations. It also had a thick, folding needle.

"It will essentially suck the life out of the planet itself, well, it will until it fills up, this is a rather small one compared to what I have planned."

"Right, okay, so what are you calling it?"

"I dunno, I don't want to think of it as a parasite, but the only name I can think of is 'Leecher'. Hope that isn't a problem."

"Not what I was expecting, but you know, it works. What about an Extractor?"

"Actually, that sounds better."

Coral, Aamber, Eight, Ambre, Ninetyseven, and I took the machine out into the flatbed hovercraft that was waiting outside. We then climbed on, with Coral's friend Pearl and the original Jet joining us. I set a course on the monitor in front of me, and away we went.

I then sat down and looked backward at the town we had built. It still had the cliff face, but new buildings had been erected around it, a wall surrounding it with residential space on the inside. Gems walking around the top. They were talking, laughing, and so many sizes of gems. Some were tall and well built, others were shorter, and some were skinny. Our appearance didn't matter, it was you as an individual. We discovered a new type of Gem as well. Fossils, and their gems were often skulls or rib cages, which they wore as if they were islanders, having the skull around their head or the rib cage around their upper torso. Aamber went up to me and touched my shoulder. I looked up at him and gave him a small smile.

After a bit more travel, we arrived at our destination, a barren area, covered in brambles and vines latching on to trees. We all got off and manually set it up, its needle just touching the loose dirt, its legs planted in it as deep as the roots of the trees. Coral climbed up one of the legs, and flicked a switch on the main body., and jumped off, getting back to the crowd standing a safe distance away. The machine rumbled, and then shook violently. The needle pressed deep into the soil, and a soft hum, which then got louder and louder into a deafening buzz, emitted from it. We all covered our ears, but kept our eyes on the vibrating the machine. Then, I noticed something, one of the trees was graying from the bottom upward, and a pink liquid began filling up the machine. I stared in confusion, while Coral looked on in pride and had an accomplished look on her face. We then moved the full Extractor to the hovercraft, which was now considerably heavier, but as we were moving it, I kicked hard into a tree, and the top half fell over.
