Our Unexpected Life 4

Chapter VI

An hour or so later, Anna and Zack arrive. I make the guys a coffee, me a tea and Anna a hot chocolate then we sit down in the living room to discuss what’s so important. Anna and Zack sat on the big couch and Cloud and I sat on the single seater, I sat on the arm with Cloud’s right arm around my waist which also went to my back and started rubbing it a bit. 

“So, what’s the big news?” I ask them, looking from one to the other.

They look at each other for a second then Anna looks up at me. 

“Well, it’s kind of hard to say, but Destiny, Cloud... I’m pregnant as well.” She says, putting her hand on her stomach.

“What?! When did this happen? How did you find out?” I ask and see Cloud look at me a little shocked at my reaction then smirks and rubs my back a little more.

“I…I just found out last night.” She says, also a bit shocked from my expression. I didn’t expect me and her to be pregnant at around the same time. “I found out from my doctor. I wasn’t feeling well, so I went to the doctors and then he told me I was about 3 months pregnant.”

I don’t respond because I don’t know what to say, instead I look about the room trying to figure out what to say. After a minute of silence, I feel everyone’s gaze on me, including Cloud’s then he tightens his grip around my waist and rubs to get my attention.

“You ok?” he gently whisper in a concerned tone.

I slightly nod then shift uneasily. I look up at Anna then finally decide to say something.

“Holy shit.” Is all that came out. “That’s such big news. That’s…great!” 

I then get up and hug her and Zack and congratulate them then an idea pops in my head. 

“I have an idea. Wait here.” I say, quickly going over to the kitchen. 

I go over and grab a tray from in the cupboard then get down 4 glasses from another. I grab a bottle of red wine which is also a favorite of Anna’s and mine. I pour some in each glass then carry the tray over to the others, along with the bottle in case anyone wants more, which might be more the boys.

“Oh, Destiny. You don’t-“ 

“I know I know.” I say, cutting her off. “It’s a special occasion plus I’m in a bit of a celebration mood.”

I hand everyone their glasses then I sit back on the arm. Cloud puts his arm around my waist again.

“We should do something.” Zack says suddenly.

“Like what?” Anna says.

Zack looks like he’s thinking then he stand up. He walks over to the stereo which is with the TV and turns it on to a slow song. Then he walks back over to Anna and puts out his hand.

“Would you like to dance?” he asks, smiling down at her and I smirk watching them.

She nods then grabbed his hand, standing up then they walk over to the empty piece of flooring which is behind us and in front of the kitchen and at the base of the stairs. Then he pulls her close and he looks overs over at us, seeing us just sitting there.

“Yo, you gonna join us?” Zack asks with a smirk.

I look the opposite ways and I can sense Cloud smile, making me blush a bit. He stands up, puts his glass down and extends his right hand out to me. I lean forward and put my glass down then take his hand, which he helps me to my feet. I look at him and see him smiling then I smile and we walk over to where Anna and Zack were.

He drags me close to him and we all dance in silence, listening to the song. I rest my head on Cloud’s left shoulder and look at Anna and see her head is rested on Zack’s right shoulder. She looks up at me and smiles then closes her eyes again. We go around in circles for a bit then I lift up my head and look at Cloud. He smiles at me and puts his forehead against mine then I notice quick movement beside me which I quickly look over to. 

“Holy moly!” Anna says, being pulled back up from a dip.

I guess she was surprised and I laugh, but Zack and Cloud just smirk. 

“Oh Anna.” I say still laughing a bit.

“What? I wasn’t expecting that.” She says, trying to defend herself.

“Expect the unexpected.” I say, still smirking.

“Eh, I don’t want to cause that would mean I’m always on edge and that’s exhausting.” She says, rolling her eyes and over exaggerating it a little. 

“Suit yourself.” I say back and putting my forehead against Cloud’s again.

“I do suit myself!” she says being a smart ass.

I start to laugh and close my eyes, not believing she just said that. 

Suddenly, my phone rings and everyone stops. Zack then went over to the stereo and shut off the music and I flipped open my phone to answer it. Cloud decided to stand pretty close to me, I guess to read my reaction on what it could be able since I usually get calls from him, Rufus, 7th Heaven, Vincent or the corporation. 

“Hello?” I ask into the receiver.

“Hello…Destiny…(Static)…We’re under attack…(Static)…Get here…Aahhhhh-“

Then the line goes dead.

“Hello? Hello?” I say and pull the phone away. “Shit!”

I look at the number and see it was from the corporation, the sub-Shinra building meaning it was one of Dr. Lazard’s or Rufus’ men that called. 

“Who was that?” Cloud asks a little tense.

“It was the sub-Shinra building. That was one of their troops that called.” I say, putting my phone away.

“What did they want?” Anna asks.

I turn to her and Zack and feel Cloud put his hand on the small of my back, stepping forward to listen, noticing something is wrong and I take a deep breath.

“Their under attack. They want us to hurry over.” I say. “We got to go.”

“Right!” Anna says.

I look over at Cloud and he nods. We both grab our swords but surprisingly Anna and Zack already had their weapons on them as well in their jeep.

We get into our own vehicles and head to the Shinra building as fast as we could.
