You sang the final chorus as Alastor listened in awe. To him, your voice could only be described in one word. Enrapturing.
His eyes were wide and unblinking while he looked at yours. This made you feel kind of awkward. No one ever looked at you like that. But to be honest, you kind of liked this attention from Alastor.
"My dear, that was intoxicating! Absolutely splendid!" Alastor stood up from his seat on the floor and ran over to you, entwining his fingers with yours.
"Thanks, Al," you blushed a bit and looked at the floor.
"Al? Are you going to start calling me that?" He joked. You giggled.
"Only when no one is listening if it embarrasses you," you offered. Alastor tilted your chin up with his fingers.
"You can call me anything within reason," he purred. Your heart fluttered a bit when you realized he had pressed you against him. You chuckled and gently pushed away from him.
"Let's go to something fun," you said enthusiastically, grabbing his hand. You led him to the elevator where Vaggie was stepping out. Her eyes widened when she saw you and Alastor.
"(Y/n), can you come with me? I need to talk to you," she said in an annoyed voice. You and Alastor started following her.
"Alone, please?" She hissed. You gave Alastor an apologetic look and let go of his hand to walk with Vaggie.
Once you were in Vaggie's room, she shut the door and took you to her couch.
"(Y/n), why were you holding hands with the Radio Demon?" She asked. She looked worried.
"His name is Alastor, and I was just taking him to the lobby. Can't I hold my friend's hand without it being a problem?" You glared at Vaggie.
"Do you not understand the severity of this situation!? Alastor is a powerful demon, he manipulates others into doing his bidding and kills hundreds of demons at a time! Don't you understand why I don't want you holding his hand!?" Vaggie was huffing. You just shrugged.
"He's been nice to me. He took me out for breakfast this morning and then paid for tailored clothes for me. Would he do that for one of his 'pawns?'" you did air quotes around the word pawn. "Alastor wouldn't hurt me, trust me, Vaggie."
Vaggie sighed and placed her hand on your shoulder.
"I just don't want you to get hurt. Charlie really likes you," she mumbled. You nodded and gave her a quick hug before hopping up to join Alastor.
"Thanks for your concern, Vaggie," you opened her door and left.
Alastor was standing at the elevator door, waiting for you.
"I'm sorry, Al," you walked into the elevator, him following close behind.
"It's quite alright, dear," he showed you hid wide grin. "People are just concerned sometimes."
"How'd you know?" You asked him suspiciously.
"Vaggie is... obvious. She shows her true emotions all the time. I could tell she didn't like that you were in my presence," his smile softened as he looked you in the eye.
"Well, I like your presence," you told him. His smile widened and he looked back to the elevator door as it opened.
"Would you like to go talk with Husk?" You queried. Alastor nodded while stepped out of the elevator with you.
"Of course, darling," The deer demon waltzed over to Husk. Husk let out a long groan and you heard him mumble under his breath.
"Not this shit again..." Husk grumbled. He didn't have alcohol which surprised you. The past three times you saw him, he had been drinking.
"Husker! My dear friend," Alastor seated himself on the counter so you joined him. "How are you?"
"I was doing fine and then you decided to show up," he snapped at Alastor. He then turned to look at you.
"Hello, (y/n)," he mumbled. "How's life?"
"Good. I have a question for you," you leaned closer to him.
"Why does Vaggie hate Alastor?" You asked him. Husk sighed and spoke back.
"Doll, she hates everyone except the girls here. I feel like she has a problem with men," he looked at your entire face taking in every detail.
"I have a question for you," he said.
You hummed in acknowledgement.
"Why are you wearing clothes? Sorry if that was wierd, i-i-it's just you're very similar to me," he stuttered.
"It feels comfortable, I guess," you replied. Beside you, Alastor looked a little annoyed. Was it because of the question Husk just asked or that you weren't focusing on him anymore.
"Fair enough," he drummed his claws on the desk.
"Can I ask how you died?" Alastor looked at you while he spoke.
"Oh. Umm..." You fiddled with your thumbs in your lap.
You didn't know how to explain this. Your boyfriend had killed you but it wasn't that simple.
"My asshat cheating boyfriend killed me. The specifics aren't important," you shrugged and hugged you legs up against you.
"Oh, darling, I'm sorry," Alastor patted your shoulder.
"Shit, that's not fun," Husk told you.
"How'd you die?" You asked Alastor. He tensed up.
"Not important.how about you, Husker? What's your old tale of death?" Alastor grinned at the annoyed cat.
"I'd honestly rather not talk about it," His wings fluffed out, his ears flattened against his head, and his tail started twitching.
"Alright, I'll respect that," you looked at him with an understanding look in your expression.
Alastor put a hand on your knee.
"My dear, are you hungry?" He asked you.
"Actually, yeah. What time is it?" You looked at the clock above Husk's head. It was One O'clock.
"Heck, wanna get lunch?" You asked Alastor. He nodded.
"What about you Husk? I can ask Charlie if Vaggie can fill in for you," you looked at him hopefully.
"Sure, beats sitting on my ass all day," he stood up and walked out from behind the counter. You could see his feet which were actually paws. You chuckled and then realized yours were exactly the same.
Husk and Alastor were about the same height and you only reached their shoulders. It was kind of funny since when you were alive you used to be tall.
You and the two other demons went to Charlie's office and knocked on the door. Charlie opened it almost immediately.
"Hey Charlie, Alastor and I are taking Husk to get lunch. We'll be back in about two hours," you stated.
"Alright! He needs a break anyways. Maybe it'll make him less grumpy," she said.
Before Husk could get mad, she shut the door.
"I'm not grumpy," he complained, "I just have a lot of problems that I have every fucking right to be mad about!" He kicked the wall and followed you and Alastor to the front door.
