As you and Alastor walked through the forest, his ears perked up like he remembered something important.
"(Y/n), I forgot to do something important with you yesterday. Will you please follow me?" He stopped walked and took both of your hands.
"Sure thing, Al," you said. He smiled wider and dropped your hands before walking back in the direction of his house. You followed close behind him.
You arrived at his house again soon but continued walking past it.
"Where are we going?" You asked him. He just looked at you for a second and turned his focus back to the path.
The journey was rough which must have been why Alastor told you to wear flexible clothes.
He led you deep into the woods, over creeks and rotting logs. Under thick canopies and chirping animals. Through bushes colored in the most beautiful shades of red. And finally, to a shimmering lake.
All around the lake were deer, lapping up the crystal water. You could see into the water at the fish, ranging from as small as your hand to as large as a lion. The middle of the lake glowed a sparkling red from the reflection of the sky. Your eyes widened and you looked at Alastor with silent excitement. He looked back at you with a giddy look on his face.
"Al, this is amazing," you took his hand and leaned into him.
"I know," he told you. "I wanted to show you this place because I knew you would love it here."
As Alastor spoke gently, a buck across the lake looked up at you. It's eyes were filled with a cautious kind of curiosity. You looked back at it until it dipped it's head once more to drink from the clear water.
"Can we come here again?" You asked him. You other hand reached up to grab the one you were already holding. He took his free hand and placed the other three.
"Whenever you feel like it, dear," he promised. "But there's one more thing I'd like to show you."
He led you through a few more bushes to a gorgeous pavilion. It had a floral design in the corners where the post met the roof. He walked you up the steps and sat down with you on one of the benches.
"You never fail to amaze me, Al," you laughed.
This moment was so perfect. You wanted to drag his face down to yours and kiss him to show him how much he meant to you. The look in his eyes told you he wanted the same.
"(Y/n)," he put a hand on your cheek. "I just wanted to say..." He hesitated. He was leaning in a bit. Your heart raced as you leaned towards his face.
"That I think we should get back to the hotel," he quickly stood up and turned his face away to hide the disappointment in his eyes. He k ew about your plan and didn't want to spoil it for you.
You were disappointed too. Even if kissing him right then would mean you couldn't save your love for Christmas, you would have wanted it anyways.
"Okay," you stood up next to him and walked back through the woods and to the hotel with him.
--------------
"(Y/n)!" Vaggie watched as you walked through the door with Alastor. "Can you come here, I need to talk to you," her jaw was clenched and she started walking towards Charlie's office.
You looked at Alastor with an apologetic look and slowly followed Vaggie.
Once the door closed and you were face to face with a worried Charlie and an angry Vaggie, the gray demon spoke first.
"Where the hell did Alastor take you yesterday!? Why weren't you back here last night!?" She gripped your shoulders. Even though she was trying to look mad, the concern inside of her leaked through her eyes and mouth.
"I-" you began, but Charlie cut you off.
"Vaggie, listen. We aren't her moms. She is 30 years old and does not need this kind of worry," Charlie placed a hand on Vaggie's shoulder which made her release her grip on you.
"I know," Vaggie sighed. "But I don't want her getting hurt."
Charlie nodded. "(Y/n), ifyou want to tell us why you didn't come back to the hotel last night, you can, but you don't have to."
You stood very still and nodded your head.
"I went with Alastor to his house. We ate dinner, watched a movie, and then I fell asleep. He didn't want to wake me up so he took me to a spare bedroom and returned to his own," you looked Vaggie in the eye and added, "He didn't hurt me in any way. He was so nice to me and had Nifty prepare a wonderful breakfast for me. I don't think he would ever actually want to hurt me, Vaggie. He's been nothing short of a wonderful person."
Vaggie's face softened and Charlie pulled her into a hug.
"You can go back to what you were doing, (Y/n). Thanks for trusting us," Charlie gave you a weak smile and stroked Vaggie's back.
You walked out of the office and went straight to the top floor. You wanted to find Husk's room so you could ask him something.
On the way you ran into Angel.
"Hey (Y/n)~ I heard you and smiles spent the night together?" Angel chuckled and leaned down to your level.
"No? Where did you hear that," you asked him.
"Oh, y'know, eavesdropping," he shrugged and smiled a wide smile at you.
"We didn't sleep in the same bedroom, we just slept in the same house," you told him. "also, do you know which room is Husk's?" You cocked your head and raised one eyebrow.
"800," he said.
You began to walk off. "Thanks."
You knocked on Husk's door quietly. Behind it, you heard a couple of bottles clink together and a shuffling of sheets. Locks clicked and the door opened to reveal a tired looking Husk.
"Whaddya want, kid?" He groaned.
"Should I come back later? I just have some questions about Alastor," you looked at his sleepy eyes.
"Yeah, come get me when I'm not hungover," he closed the door and returned to his bed.
You stood there and sighed and went back to your own room to think about a song you could sing for the holidays.
