Athletics season is starting soon for Mushroom High. Coach DK said that the team would come up today for the first round which was in a weeks time. Pauline went to the changing room to see what the team was. She already knew that she was in the team after breaking the 100m record for their school. She saw the teams.
100m: Pauline and Honey Queen
200m: Dixie and Mona
300m: Rosalina and Lucy
800m: Birdo
1500m: Amy and Jessica
Relay: Abbie, Honey Queen, Jessie and Angel
Hurdles: Daisy
High jump: Dixie and Daisy
Long jump: Rosalina and Birdo
Triple jump: Pauline and Lucy
Pole Vault: Mona
Shot Put: Amy and Abbie
Discus: Jessie and Angel
After reading that Pauline was really confused. Firstly, there weren't any 10th graders in the team. Secondly, Toadette was dropped out.
"Hey Pauline what's the team looking like for next week?" Toadette came up to the sheet and saw it. She was fuming.
"So you're telling me that Lucy had managed to take Mona's place and I can't even travel?" Toadette said.
"No," Coach DK replied coming from nowhere. "You, are a reserve for now. You were only in for 200m last year. This year, you have to do two events and you don't have a field. So, you're a reverse for the 200m."
"Could I race Mona this week?" Toadette asked. "I wasn't there when you let Mona and Dixie run against each other,"
"Look, we'll give it a shot after the first round. Look on the bright side. You miss school for a day to do nothing," Coach DK said.
"Fair enough," Toadette said.
"Hold on, we compete on a different day to the boys. How's that happened?" Pauline asked.
"They did that to us last year," Toadette said. "We're competing a day before them,"
Mario, Luigi, Waluigi, Djhon, Yoshi, Daisy and Rosalina went to the sports hall together to see the team. Daisy and Rosalina expected their events but were shocked that Toadette got dropped out.
This was the boys team:
100m: Mario and Yoshi
200m: Luigi and Djhon
300m: Bowser Junior and Troops
800m: Toad and Dave
1500m: Michael
Hurdles: Waluigi and Diddy Kong
Relay: Bowser, Petey, Funky Kong and
Dry Bowser
High jump: Djhon and Yoshi
Long jump: Mario and Waluigi
Triple jump: Luigi and Diddy Kong
Pole Vault: Bowser Junior
Shot Put: Bowser and Petey
Discus: Dave and Troops
Javelin: Michael and Toad
Hammer: Funky Kong and Dry Bowser
"Why has he put you down for your second hand events?" Mario asked.
"He said it was better to score points from. He moved Diddy Kong to Hurdles so I'm guessing that Diddy Kong had been practising for it," Djhon said.
"Its gonna be interesting to see how the girls perform because I heard Pauline is quick." Waluigi said.
"They're competing a day earlier than us again," Yoshi said.
"Damn," Luigi said. "I'm glad we don't race our own teammates. Have you seen how much quicker this guy has gotten."
"I'll find out next week," Mario said. "I'm gonna try and break 11 seconds this year,"
"Same here," Yoshi said. "I'm so glad I recovered just in time. I didn't think I'd make Athletics season but I have. Can't wait!"
Nor can I Yoshi, the girls first round is chapter 70 and the boys will be chapter 71. Hope you liked this chapter and is excited for what's to come.
