"Now, where were we on these?" James asked as he picked up one of the albums.
"Ah, this one." I said and pulled the one we were looking at before dinner. I flipped through and found the one of me and Jason. James took the album from me and flipped through the pages after that one photo.
"Oh, looks like there is more!" He said as he spotted some loose photos in the book. He grabbed some and looked through them. Some were black and white photos and some were color. In one he spotted some guy looking like Steve and then another one with Steve and Peggy.
"Son of gun! I wonder if he time traveled here! Look at this one of Steve and Peggy." James pointed at. I looked and saw a very good-looking couple with my grandparents.
"I don't see anything unusual about this one." I said.
"Look at the background. It's your house and the front porch!" He said as he pointed out the house. I took a closer look and sure enough it was this house back in the late 40's. My grandparents were just looking around at the time and they bought it in the early 50's.
"Look there's a sign! It says for sale!" James said in shock. "When did you grandparents buy this house?"
"I think it was the early 50's. They bought this one when they were going to have my mom." I explained.
He went through the others and found more of Steve. This time at my house but in the backyard, pointing at something and Peggy with a disapproving look on her face. Bucky pointed out that there was a back porch or patio then which looked different than what we had now. In another photo, Steve held onto a corner brick, posing with it for the photographer. It was blurry but you could make out that it said S&P and the initials of my grandparents.
"Do you know if this is still in the backyard?" he asked with
"I don't know. We have to find out tomorrow." I said a little surprised by what I saw.
Then in the final black and white photo, it was taken in the house. It had to be a later year because the furniture had a definite feel of the 50's style furniture. In the photo was Steve, Peggy and my grandparents and a few others that I didn't recognize. It looked like a party. Bucky noticed something sticking to the photo and found another one. When he successfully separated the two, we saw a baby being held by my grandma. It looked nothing like my mom. Bucky/James turned the photo around and saw what they wrote on the back.
"Who the hell is Roman?" He asked.
"Oh, my God!" I said in complete shock. I remembered something my grandma said about having more than one baby and that my mom's older brother died young. I forgot about that.
"I think that was my mom's older brother who died from Sudden Death Syndrome when he was almost a year old." I explained to James.
"How many siblings did your mom have?"
"Um... She was the only one after Roman as I recall. My grandma was secretive about that. I think she told me once she miscarried a few times before and after my mom. I know that she was sad about losing her many babies from miscarriage. I think she was pregnant five times. She had Roman and of course my mom. She said my mom was a miracle and was happy when she carried my mom to full term." I said in detail to James.
"I hope you don't run into any problems." James expressed. "I'm just surprised that Steve and Peggy knew your maternal grandparents. I wonder how they met and became friends." He continued.
"I wonder too. Maybe it's something we'll have to find out!" I said.
"Yeah, we'll have to look in the backyard for that brick." James said as he continued looking at the photos. Now we looked at the colored ones and found more of Steve with my grandparents. These photos were taken in the 60's, Steve was with my mom in one. They were playing a game with Peggy looking on. When we got the final one, it was a group photo at the Stanford bookstore; Steve, Peggy, my grandparents, my grandpa's brother with his wife and of course, my young mom! Some strange person was also in the picture. We wondered who that was.
