We stopped at the first restaurant we saw. It was a mom and pop place with a nondescript building. We thought it would do for now. If not, we'll stop somewhere else and get something. We went inside and saw the menu. They had burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, onion rings and many other comfort or casual food. We decided it would be better to eat instead of waiting for later in the day. I'm a pregnant woman and eating for two. Their club sandwich looked good to me and some French fries. My better half, James, thought that the grilled chicken sandwich looked good and went with that. He decided on onion rings this time. He said he hasn't had that in a good while. After ordering our food, someone got our drinks, we sat and waited for our food.

"This place or city looks somewhat tiny." He said as he drank some soda.

"You get a lot of these pop up mom and pop restaurants when you come up here." I quietly said to James as several patrons walked by.

"I hope the food is good." He grumbled a little.

"From what I've heard, the food is good at a lot of these places." I almost whispered and grabbed his hands to reassure him.

"I hope so. Because if not, we're leaving and going somewhere else." He whispered back and drank more of his Coke.

"I'm with you on that!" I said as I drank some water. About fifteen minutes later our food arrived. We noticed our plates had big servings of French fries and onion rings along with our sandwiches.

"Wow! May I please have ketchup?" James asked the waitress. She said she'd be back with that and the mustard. She said that their usually on the table but someone didn't put them on ours. Few minutes later she returned with the ketchup and mustard. James immediately poured some ketchup on his plate for his onion rings and tried one. I anxiously waited to see if he liked them and wanted to eat lunch here.

"Mmm... this is good." He said and then took a bite of his sandwich. After my foodie said it's very good, he was content with his lunch. James can be a little picky when it comes to food and also somewhat nick picky when it comes to some restaurants. He says it's because of his days living in Europe and having to survive on mystery meat. He found that the only food he liked was plums when living in Romania. He also told me that he missed his mom's cooking. He's a meat and potatoes guy. In our cooking class we learned to make Beef Wellington, he thought he would like it but the meat ended up being pink and little bit more on the rare side for him. I remember he had to microwave the meat to his liking. Whenever he makes that for company or just us, he cooks the meat to medium well-done. It's one of his favorites as long he's cooking it.

"How's your lunch?" He asked me while I ate my club sandwich.

"It's good. The bacon is to your liking! Crispy." I said as I drank my water.

"May I try some?" He asked.

"Sure." I said and pulled some out of my sandwich and gave him some.

"So, how far is Tahoe City from here?" James asked as he sipped his soda and ate some bacon.

"I think it's about twenty minutes away." I said to him while eating lunch.

"That's good. I hope you can rest some. This bacon is good!" he said.

"I hope so too. I think I want a nap later after we find a place to stay." I said.

"Where are we staying?" he asked between bites.

"I was thinking of West Shore Cafe and Inn because it has a waterfront view." I said as I ate my sandwich. "Besides it has room service. I think we want that for our next hotel room!" I added. He smiled.
