It turned into a mad house in the kitchen, James, George, Michelle, Karen and I were hovering around and fighting over the cake. George whistled at all of us to shut up.

"What would make it easy is two of us carrying out the cake, placing it on the table and then people can take pictures of this beautiful cake!" George calmly said to everyone. "Who's with me on carrying the cake?" He asked.

"I will!" Karen said as she elected herself to help carry the cake.

"How did you manage on your own when you brought the cake in?" James whispered at me.

"I had Lady help me!" I joked. "No, actually our next door neighbor helped me." I explained to him. He just smiled and held the door so George and Karen could bring the cake outside. We noticed some people were still snacking on the sandwiches from Sam's Club and the other food from Sam's. I'm glad the guests liked the food, half of it was gone. I had my fair share and so did James.

"Oh, don't forget your goodies for the guests." I whispered to James as we stood to the side, away from the guests.

"Oh, yes. Should I do that after or before the cake?" He asked.

"Um... I'd say after because we're just going to say it before we cut the cake not unless someone catches on when they see the cake." I explained to him. "You may want to bring those out now so we don't forget to give them away." I continued. After I explained things to James, he went in the house to get his buns for the guests. He made mini-buns and place them in Ziplock baggies decorated with snowflakes. We had Ziplock baggies from Christmas which were leftovers from something else. We thought baby themed decorations of any kind would give us away. He came outside bearing lots of mini-buns in his arms and placed them on the table with the food.

"Oh. Can I have one?" Scott asked when he saw the mini-buns laying there.

"No, not until later." James said with a clipped voice.

"OK." He said and then looked at the cake.

"Beautiful cake! I like the decorations on top, especially that bear! Is that Winnie the Pooh?" Scott unknowingly asked. Karen was nearby and heard him say that. She had taken a quick glance at the cake.

"Oh, my goodness! Chris, are you?" she asked me as I made the sign for her to stay quiet.

"Oh my!!" She said and looked at me in surprise. I pulled her to the side.

"It's supposed to be a surprise. We're going to say something just before we cut the cake. Can you please keep it secret for a while?" I explained to her.

"Of course, Chris, I can do that. You know me. It stays sealed in my vault!" Karen said and we giggled. She's been known to keep very personal secrets and not tell anyone. If the CIA were to get information from her, they would never get it. Never. Soon some individuals took photos of the cake. George gestured for me to join James in some photos with the cake. We smiled and went along with the photo opportunities then we took some of our own. It was too beautiful to cut it. We want a picture to add to our baby album in chronicling his coming into the world. Sam and Michelle saw the cake and smiled at us. Sam knew from earlier; Michelle doesn't know but I think after her seeing the bear in the cake tipped her off. Then George, our bartender, did that thing with a water glass to get attention to all the guests. He also brought a handheld microphone and got their attention. The dinging of the water glass was an effective way to get our guests attention.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to wish these two, James and Christina, a happy first anniversary. Before they cut the cake, I think James and Christina want to say something to all of you." George said into the microphone. With that he gave the microphone to us. I took the microphone from James because he suddenly got stage fright.
