February 2026
Scott and Hope arrived for a nice short visit. They were very happy and also announced they are engaged. Sam was invited to come over and see Scott but Sam and Michelle had to do some wedding planning somewhere for the first weekend in February.
"So when is your wedding?" I asked them. They just laughed.
"We haven't set the date yet for our wedding." Hope said and laughed with us.
"I hope you don't plan on September of this year! That's when Sam and Michelle are getting married!" James laughed.
"Ah, yeah. We know about that. We more or less are thinking about Christmas time this year or next year on Valentine's Day!" Scott explained to us.
"When did you get engaged? That may be helpful setting it according to that." I said as I held Grant in my arms. He was awake when they came for their visit. Scott looked at Grant for a few minutes.
"Ah, actually we got engaged about the time that little tyke was born! It was the weekend before the day he was born!" Scott said as he pointed a finger at Grant.
"Uh, Scott we don't need to decide today. We can do it later. We don't want these nice people to know about our indecision on the matter." Hope advised Scott and nervously laughed.
"It's so great to see you two after having Grant! I think you look great, Christina. What's your secret for losing weight?" Hope turned the conversation over to us in order to stay away from them being hard-pressed for a wedding date. I have a feeling it's going to be around Grant's birthday this year. We have decided to a birthday party for his first birthday. Too early now to plan for it but later we will.
"Uh, him! Body by Bucky or James!" I said with a laugh as I pointed to James. He gave a humble smile as they looked at him.
"Well, you look fantastic. Especially after I saw you at Thanksgiving. You were about to pop then and very much glowing. Now you have the same look, happy and vibrant but with less weight. Congrats to you James for getting her in shape after having a baby!" Hope gushed at us and giving James a complement on me.
"You're welcome!" He said with smile. I could tell that he was getting uncomfortable with her going on about me. I had to change the subject otherwise she's going to say something about him whipping them in shape.
"Ah. So are you two planning on have kids sometime after you're married?" I asked.
"We'd like to. Cassie is at an age where Hope cannot adopt her. Teenagers! So we want a child of our own sometime soon." Scott interjected and explained to us.
"Well, if you do decide on having a baby, it's a wonderful thing to have. He or she will be a joy in your lives!" I happily said to them. I could tell James felt better now that I directed the conversation away from him. We had a nice visit with them on Saturday afternoon. They got to see Grant and take turns holding him as well. When they left, they were very happy for us and loved Grant.
"Hope to see you in September for Sam and Michelle's wedding!" James said as Scott and Hope left for the hotel. They waved goodbye to us as they left.
"See you two there!" Scott yelled.
"Wanna bet they are getting married the weekend before or after Grant's birthday?" James said to me as he closed the door.
"I think it will be the weekend before his birthday, which will be fine for us since we want to do his first birthday party the weekend after his birthday!" I said.
"Let's hope their wedding is the weekend before Grant's birthday!" He said and kissed me. Tonight was another night in for the three of us. Next week, we're getting a nice break and having Gayle watch Grant while we will enjoy a romantic Saturday evening for Valentine's Day.
