Leuca's POV

I'd been amused when my first noble returned from Caleb's slave shop with a pet girl born from deserters. Humans who somehow still are able to hide from us, a superior race. Somehow are still able to thrive with limited resources. The pet girl had been broken, she had given up, it was easily read in her eyes.

My first noble, Wyatt, also told me about one of her companions back at the shop. A feisty girl, also born from deserters but trained as a hunter. Hilarious.

He talked enthusiastically about her, somehow it sparked my interest. That night when my new required pet made a small error, put her damn laundry next to the basket instead of in it. It was a simple task and just a minor mistake but it frustrated me.

I lashed out and accidentally fractured a few ribs. It pierced her lungs and suddenly she was dying. I could've fed her my blood which would've healed her, but it would be a waste of my blood. Instead, I watched her breath out her last breath.

Before I knew, I was on my way to meet her. The firecracker girl, Wyatt told me about. I couldn't get her out of my head.

And then I saw her, chained up and in a terrible state physically. It took all her strength just to look me in the eyes, defying every ounce of my existence. Those green eyes captivated me, it made it all the more promising. How long would it take for me to break her spirits?

A day? A week? Maybe a month?

First I had to release her from those chains, she was on the verge of death. Her mind wasn't ready yet, her body clearly was welcoming it. She fell unconscious in my arms, she looked absolutely terrible.

Underweight, bloody, weakened, dirty and the foul stench of death surrounded her. She was a prize capture, a hunter wasn't captured very often. Especially not a female.

I raised my finger to my lips and used my fang to pierce it, causing it to start bleeding. I then proceeded to bring my finger to her mouth and gently nudged it in.

A vampire's blood had healing abilities, the stronger the vampire the better it worked. Just a drop from me would do the trick.

I'd taken her with me to Caleb's office and settled down with her in my lap. We continued to discuss the price. "That's too much of a prize for the state she was in, she's a rare possession but hadn't I given her my blood she would have died. I bought her in that state, Caleb." I was getting annoyed with that stingy bastard, though I had anticipated it.

I heard her breathing change and she shifted in my hold, she was starting to awaken. "She's a huntress, she's worth more than fifty!" Caleb argued with me, again stingy.

"An untrained one, underweight and was knocking on death's door. I find it a reasonable prize considering." I wanted to pull him over the table but a certain green-eyed girl in my lap retained me from doing so.

Now she was shifting more, she was trying to get away from me. I just had to tighten my hold on her. Instead of calming down, it had the opposite effect on her.

Suddenly one of her palms placed themselves on my face which distracted me momentarily and she used her momentum to swing her legs off me. I simply had to reach for her but with her free arm, she blocked my hand and retracted her other arm to slap it away.

For a human, she was quite skilled, I admit. She was quite agile, quickly, and bouncing all over the place. She reminded me of a bunny.

I stood up and at a slow pace walked up to the little bunny, still, she defied me by staring me straight into my eyes. Any other per or slave would never dare.
