Chapter 29 - future concerns

"Wake up, bunny..."

Ugh, Leuca's voice was echoing in my head. Why was he in my head? I opened my eyes slowly and realized I had been taking a nap and Leuca was waking me. I groaned and tried to turn around.

"It's time for dinner, Riley."

Already? Huh... How? I didn't nap for four hours? I slowly sat up and looked at the time only to realize I had slept for that long, strange, my naps never were any longer than an hour. "How did I sleep for so long?" I still felt really tired and my stomach was hurting a little.

He gently picked me up and settled me in his lap. He asked me what I meant by that and he commented that I still looked tired.

"I never nap for four hours and I could sleep even more." I leaned against him and almost felt my eyes close again, ready to welcome sleep again.

I felt him kiss my temple and lay me back in bed."I heard you had hypothermia, I didn't know you were outside without proper clothing. Your body needs rest, I'll have Anthony bring you dinner later this evening." Leuca said as he covered me with the warm blankets again.

I grabbed his hand, I wanted to come along. Just because. "Sleep Riley, it seems you need it." He squeezed my hand but before he let go I asked him if he would return early tonight.

"You want me to return early hmm?" I barely could hold my eyes open enough to see him smirk like usual. Cheeky fucker. I mumbled something incoherently, it didn't come out like I wanted to. "Hmm, love?"

Love? Did I hear that right? Probably delusional. I already fell asleep again.

I dreamed of a lovely meadow with so much green and a pond. I was picnicking with my siblings and Leuca somehow was there too. My friends from the hunter faction and the friends I had made here were there as well.

Everyone was laughing together, conveying the recipes of the food they had made for sharing. Everyone was enjoying the meals and just being happy in general and getting along with each other.

My dream ended when I opened my eyes again and it was just past eight o'clock. I slept for another two hours. I almost had a full night's sleep during the day. I did feel more rested now though, still drowsy but better.

Leuca wasn't in the room but my stomach was feeling better and I was quite hungry. I took a quick shower and dressed in one of Leuca's hoodies.

He had bought "new" ones even though he didn't even wear them. I'd like to think it was because I still wore a lot of his clothing. After all, it was comfy. I like being comfy.

My growling stomach led me to the kitchen, this time the dining hall was empty already so where was Leuca? I didn't think much of it and walked into the kitchen. It was just Anthony tonight and he was glad to see me, "I'm about to finish! I was going to send someone up to wake you in a bit." He said with a smile. "Rested enough?"

I nodded, "yeah I don't know what came over me to sleep so suddenly for six hours! But I do am quite hungry."

"We all do need some extra rest now and then, especially if you almost became an ice cube." He joked, "I'm making pasta for you."

My eyes lit up, I loved that! I longed for pasta too. "Thanks, Anthony for always caring for me like this." I had no idea what I would do without him.

He shrugged, "well if I don't then my head will be ripped off so I don't have much of a choice. Luckily you're a good person and I like to cook for you." He was kind of a joker, I knew that much about him but he also was very sweet.

I asked him why he was alone but he just said he sent the others to the room for some extra rest. They had a busy day after all. He truly was too sweet. He looked tired as well.
