Chapter 23 - Painful loss and desperate trust

We have been in witch territory for five days now but Leuca wasn't letting me out of the room anymore. He even has Peter keep watch in front of the door. I found out about this when I tried picking the lock and I opened the door to find him staring in disappointed at me.

He has had these meetings with Althea but I smelled the perfume of her all over him! All over him, like I know she has been sitting on him or something. He also had lipstick marks in his neck and ever since our steamy morning, I hadn't let him kiss me or anything more knowing that bitch was doing to same.

I wasn't jealous, just more wary of my position. I was bored as hell again in the room. I heard the door being unlocked and instead of seeing Leuca, I saw his sister walking his.

Though she resembled more of a human. I didn't dislike her. "Hey Riley, want to go on a walk with me?" She asked, poking her head in the room.

I sat up excitedly, "wait I'm allowed to go outside?" I asked her.

She nodded, "Christina will come along as well, but she'll stay at a safe distance away from you. Just a safety precaution." she said, meaning should I escape and she wouldn't be able to stop me then Christina would make sure I wasn't going anywhere. She didn't like me, mutual feelings, but she did anything if it was of Leuca's interest.

I wasn't complaining though and quickly stood up and grabbed a denim jacket, because it was getting a bit chillier after all, and pulled it on. "Let's go!" I declared excitedly as I walked out of the room with Amalia next to me.

She giggled and addressed my excitement but she also called it cute. I didn't think I was cute, I was dressed cute by Leuca but my usual style wasn't like this. Just simple jeans or legging and a shirt would do. And sneakers, I missed my sneakers. But sneakers weren't girly and cute enough in Leuca's eyes so I didn't get them no matter how much I asked him. "So how have you been, Riley?" She asked me while we stepped outside.

Christina wasn't in sight but I'm sure she was close. I quite liked just being with Amalia here. The witch's coven territory was surrounded by forest so we walked along a trail while we talked about my life and hers. I had much to tell her while she didn't actually, she has been locked up for safety measures. And if she did go outside it was always with guards surrounding her or Leuca accompanying her himself.

She also told me about her talk with Althea, apparently, Amalia had hoped she had even a bit more magical power inherited from her mother but Althea checked and didn't find a drop of magical potential in her. Her vampire side had blocked it all, a vampire can't possess magical power.

She also told me she wanted to know where her mother came from, which was this place. After our first talk, she looked up pictures of her mother and wanted to know more about her heritage. I inspired her or something which was quite adorable.

She showed me a picture of her mother. In this picture, she stood with a female vampire with blond hair and green eyes and a male vampire with black hair and blue eyes. The male vampire looked a lot like Leuca but a bit older, with a darker beard and mustache, and his hair sleeked back in a style full manner.

"This is my father and this is Leuca's mother, " Amalia said pointing to the male and female I had noticed. On the ground sat a human with long red curly hair." and this is my mother." She also pulled out another photo from her pocket with just her mother in the picture. She was smiling brightly in a summery yellow dress in a field of flowers.

The first picture showed a woman who didn't smile, so the second picture was is different. She seemed happy in the second one. "Leuca told me my father made this picture of her when they were on a family vacation. He remembered because that dress was specially bought by our father, though strangely they still didn't suspect an affair back then." She seemed sad saying it, affair. The second photo showed the woman smiling honestly, her eyes full of love for the one snapping the picture.
