I see it often and I cringe each and every time. Pitying the poor sap that had this student to teach. Hehehe. No, I'm jesting. Actually I'm in a gaming mood. My sarcasm meter is on low. My mischief meter however is off the scale.

As he squinted his eyes. He took a drag of his cigarette and then as he watched the other male drink his bourbon, he chuckled to himself as he watched his compadre fall down the stairs....

But you see, back on topic, when the adjective/adverb (As) is used more than twice in one sentence it does look rather terrible. And, if you are still doing it by the end of this impromptu lesson, come to my office after school. I'll have you write out a hundred lines of better grammar examples.

So tell me: Have you often struggled to find a replacement of it because you are using it to extremes?

Well then, here's your chance to expand your waning vocabulary and add some more words in to it to use instead of (as).

As is a conjunction.
Used primarily to indicate that something happens during the time when something else can be taking place.

But, there are alternatives, my dimwitted friends.
While/Whilst
Just as
Even as
When

As is also used to indicate, by comparison, the way that something can happen or is done.

As a preposition, (as) is used to refer to the function or character that someone or something has.
