        Sonya's POV, that night~

After a nice meal provided by Jim, I got ready to bunk down for the night. I made myself a bed with old blankets, when a light shone into the small space of the basement. I looked out to the starry sky above through the small window, I slowly walked over and pulled the window open, I vaulted myself up and through the window. I stood up and stretched out, wincing in pain.

Thankfully, Jim's mom had to pull a night shift at the hospital, leaving Jim upstairs in his room doing homework, so I really didn't need to worry about getting spotted. I walked to the rocks in the backyard and jumped up on one, before sitting down and looking up to the stars with wide eyes. I heaved a contented sigh, letting my hand fall in my lap, my brown hair falling over my shoulder and before my eyes.

Then looked down to my bare feet, and wiggled my toes, the bottoms of my feet were rough, calloused and scarred from years of scrambling over rocks and dirt bare foot. I pulled my knees to my chest and rested my chin on them. I closed my eyes and inhaled the cool scent of the grass, and the trees overhead. I then looked up at the stars overhead, I cocked my head before wincing a little bit, I reached up and touched my head,

"Ow . . ." I grumbled, touching the bandage on the side of my forehead, "that's gonna scar . . ." I hissed.

I then heard a dull thud, I lifted my head and saw Draal poke his head out form the corner of the house, he peaked a brow, "I thought you were resting." he said walking over to me.

I chuckled, "I got distracted by the stars." I looked up at the sky, blowing bangs out of my vision.

Draal came up beside me and looked up, "Hmm, the stars seem brighter this evening." he looked at me, "How do you feel?" he asked.

"Physically or mentally?" I replied, a soft smirk on my lips.

Draal's expression hardened a little bit, "Both."

I looked down, "Well, physically, I'm sore but I'll heal . . . mentally I . . . don't know . . ." I ran my hand through my hair.

Draal looked at me, then he heaved a sigh, "It is true: the wounds on the outside heal the swiftest," the then smiled and ruffled my hair a little bit, "but if anyone can do it, I know it's you."

I laughed lightly, my heart skipping a beat, "Oh, c'mon," I rolled my eyes, "half of the stuff I do is just to spite you." I joked.

Draal peaked a brow, "Oh? Is that so?" he then grabbed me by my shoulders and put me in a friendly headlock, "Then, take this!" Be began ruffling up my hair with his mechanical hand.

I laughed, and sealed my eyes shut, "Ok, ok, I'm sorry! White flag I give!" I struggled in his grip.

Draal stopped and set me in the grass beside him, he was chuckling himself. I rubbed the back of my neck, blushing crimson, before I looked up to the stars again. My gaze hardened, and my eyes lowered,

"Draal . . ." I spoke his name.

Draal peaked a brow and looked at me, "Hmm?" he asked.

I hugged my shoulders, "I'm sorry . . ."

"What? For what? Where is this coming from?" He asked, bewildered.
I cleared my throat, "If I hadn't been so hellbent on revenge I . . . wouldn't have gotten captured, and I wouldn't have put you all at risk." I lowered my head, "I'm usually better at thinking things through . . ." I rested my head on my knees.

I heard Draal sigh, before he scooted closer to me, "Sonya, look at me."

I refused, feeling my body shiver and quake. I then felt something cup my chin and Draal lifted my gaze to meet his, his expression softened, "We've all made a mistake such as that, believe me, I know I have." He let my chin go, "Do not blame yourself for wanting to avenge you mother's death. I was just as unpredictable when I was hellbent on killing Bular to avenge my father," he looked me over, "what matters is you are here, alive and well and everyone got out alive . . . except that hunter."

"Eh-heh-heh . . . yeah . . ." I rubbed the back of my neck, "Sorry you had to see that . . ."

Draal shrugged, "No need for apologies, I did not see a thing, it was too dark." He put his hands in his lap, "All I could hear was screaming, and something about a toll for Satan?" he looked at me.

I blushed and looked away, "Yeah . . . it was just something I came up with last minute to scare the living snot outta him . . ."

"Before you ripped his head off?" Draal questioned, peaking a brow.

"Ok," I held up a hand, "to be fair, I did not rip his head off, I crushed it in my jaws." I corrected.

Draal rolled his eyes, "Like there is a difference." he then turned his head away, looking up to the sky, "The stars are beautiful." He changed the subject.

I looked up to them, and nodded, "Yeah, man," I sighed, smiling, "you know, in the Black Mountains, in winter if you go to the peak, you can see a little bit of the Northern Lights." I crossed my legs, "It's just a glimpse, but . . . it lights up the whole horizon." I then looked to Draal who was smiling at me, I peaked a brow, "Uh, what's with the look?" I asked softly.

Draal snorted, "Nothing, it's just . . . they way you talk about your home . . ." he chuckled, "it sounds amazing."

I felt my cheeks heat up, "Well, I mean . . " I trailed off and looked away.

Draal shifted a bit, before he cleared his throat. An uncomfortable and awkward slice fell on us then, after a few painful moments that seemed like an eternity, I groaned,

"Draal, why do we do this?" I asked, my shoulders slumping.

Draal peaked a brow, "Pardon?" he turned to me.

I sighed, my face flushed bright red, "Look, we fight, we bicker, we call each other silly nicknames like Horn Head, Stone Skin and . . . puppy . . ." I felt my face get even darker, "but, when we fight, we're like a machine, perfectly in tune with one another." I then froze, "But, then again it could just be me, and my overly sensitive Loboan sense but-"

"Sonya," Draal put a hand on my shoulder, "you have said all that has needed to be said." His hand then slid up to my neck, and cupped my cheek, his thumb running just under my eye.

Draal spoke softly, "Ever since that first moment, when I . . ." he froze up, "tried to cut your head off . . ."

I stifled a giggle, seeing his confused face.

"Anyways," Draal cleared his throat and pulled his hand away, "I, uh, came to realize . . . " he hunched his shoulders, "that what you said just now, is , in fact a reality, you and I we . . . get along very well, don't we?" he smiled at me.

I cocked my head, and chuckled, "Like bees in a hive." my hair fell before my face.

Draal reached forward and pulled some strands of hair back, and he cupped my face, before he leaned in and pressed his forehead to mine, "You can be quite the adorable one." he nuzzled my forehead.

I blushed dark, "Since when can you be so affectionate?" I teased, accepting his nuzzle.

"Well, to be fair, I haven't had anyone to show affection to." he snorted, his warm breath tickling my skin.

I sorted a bit, giggling uncontrollably, "Draal!" I put my hands on his chin, "That tickles!"

"Good." He nuzzled into my neck, "It should." he pulled me to his chest, he then gazed into my eyes, "I love you, Sonya."

I blinked in shock at his words before I let my head rest on his, feeling head breath tickle my skin, his huge arms secure around my form,

"I love you too, Draal."
