Horse farm and a traumatized Shinichi (Shinkai)

Chapter 5

A cough brought Kaito out and the other let out a rather girly yelp. It was adorable, but at the same time made him feel sad. That was really not the Tantei-kun he knew. He let go of the and the other sat up as well. He could see the flushed cheeks and as his eyes locked with blue relieved yet worried glint.

"I assume that you did use what I did when you had your nightmares didn't you.?"

That was making the other look sheepishly at the other. It was more out of instinct and when he took the other in a hug he realized it afterward.

"Um, I hope that you didn't mind it too much. I have gone a bit too far with that didn't I?"

Kaito felt guilty as he knew that not all liked it and the other was never someone who was a touchy person. Not to mention that the other had PTSD. 

"No! I-it w-was al-alright. T-t-the hug h-help m-me out actually..."

His voice was a bit louder at the beginning and in the end, it was soft and almost a whisper. One other thing he noted that his speech got worse than before when the other got more nervous. As well as pressured and anxiousness made the stuttering worse. Why Kaito wasn't sure? But he could read from the body language how the other felt right now. That was something that he always was good at and that was why he had a good poker face. 

Not that he used it right now, as he let his guard down for the other male. That was something that he couldn't do. It was to make the other trust him, and that was probably one of the main reasons that Shinichi wasn't hiding it.

"I am glad then. Watson nudged you and tried to wake you up, but that didn't work. In the end, I did what help with me, hugging. Saguru has always done this when I had my nightmares."

The other male looked now more relaxed and he breathed out.

"I u-uh am s-sorry f-for w-worrying you. Y-you s-still s-seem to have a b-bleeding h-heart..."

As the sapphire eyed male told the last part, Saguru snorted and he chuckled. That was something that would probably never change. He always would put other people first then himself.

"That never will change probably. That moron has rescued my arse many times and I always have to scold him later on for being a reckless aho."

The other rubbed his back in a sheepish manner and a chuckle escaped. It was how he always would be, and he would die for his friends.

"Oi, not my fault that I always had to look after you. You detectives are trouble magnets. How many times I had to rescue you were insane."

He began to pout and folding his arms together. To this day he always watched the two closely. Until the Heisei holmes disappeared. Shinichi was someone he had done this, but his doves had lost him. He was the first one who knew from his disappearance and he was the first one who gave the footage to the police. Kaito always looked around and never stopped searching for the other, until he almost lost hope.

"Pff, and you called me a stalker."

The other huffed and pouted more. Kaito had to look after his critics or they would end up either injured, kidnapped or worse dead. Hattori wasn't living near the town so that he couldn't look after the other, but the other two critics he always watched, with his doves. Not to mention that Hattori was not always on his heists and when he was it always amusing for him. His best friend and the other argued every time. Kaito wanted to argue back but stopped as he heard a giggle. Both males turned their attention to the now giggling Shinichi.

It made them froze, and soon both had a soft smile on their lips. It seemed that the third person found that funny. It probably was for watched their arguing. Soon the giggle stopped and the cheeks of the other flushed. Kaito could guess what the other male would say, that was why he intervened before he could apologize.

"Don't apologize. We aren't mad at you for laughing at us two being morons. At least we managed to amuse you."

The blond brit had amusement in his voice and mirrored it. And he was right that both were morons for arguing about this. It made him remember the time he got to high school. Now remembering back, it was hilarious how much they argued.

"Yeah, it seems like that will never change. In high school, it was worse and we always argued. Now thinking back we both matured a lot."

The other chuckled and shook his head, probably thinking the same thing about his school days.

"Oh...A-alright. u-um a-about t-tomorrow w-what will we d-do?"

Kaito hummed at the question and thinking what Shinichi could do and thought about letting the other take care of Sahara and maybe go on a ride with her. She was his horse as well, and he was sure that she would like him. Watson chooses Shinichi as well, from all the dogs. It seemed that the other dogs would still greet him, but the others wouldn't intervene at least not all. He decided to let the other meet Sahara.

"We start pretty early, 5 in the morning, but you can start a bit later when this is too early for you. And I let you meet my horse. Her name is Sahara. I got her first and she usually never lets others on her. The only ones are me and Saguru actually. Maybe she will like you?"

Animals are interesting and he loved animals that was the reason why he chooses to be vegetarian. He didn't want animals to suffer because of eating meat. A shudder at the thought about eating meat. 

"You are thinking about the meat thing again aren't you."

That was making him realize that he trailed off again to this topic. It was weird, but Saguru by now managed to see through him and usually guessed what he was thinking. 

'Stupid Tantei-san and  his sharpness...'

Pouting slightly as he folded his arms together.

"Yeah, I need to up my game that you can't read me that easy."

That made the other snort and Shinichi had a puzzled look. God, was he adorable when looking confused.

"He is vegetarian, as he hates seeing animals in pain. And right now he thought about it again and that was why he shuddered."

That was making the other nod. Watson walked back to his lap and curled himself together. The male looked down first and began to pet the other with care.

"A-about to-tomorrow. I d-don't mind g-getting u-up early."

Kaito hummed and was glad that at least the other seemed more relaxed now. There was something that he still needed to ask the other.
