Horse farm and a traumatized Shinichi (Shinkai)

Chapter 18

"Don't tell me you eavesdropped on us?"

Shinichi nodded, but he wasn't regretting it. This had to do with him, and he was too curious. He had to know what the two were talking, it was just an urge he had. The two had eye contact and Saguru pinched the brink of his nose. Kaito let out a sigh as scooping him up, walking towards the bed. It made him lean into the touch, as soon the tears stopped flowing. Just having Kaito near him calmed him down.

How the male was doing this, was something that he couldn't get. Once again he guessed it had to do with him having a crush on the male. Or maybe it was just that he felt comfortable around the latter person.

"So, why did you cry?"

It was now a few minutes later, as he was finally calm again. Saguru was leaning onto the wall as boring holes into him. He felt guilty as making him slightly smaller.

"I u-uh was...h-happy...."

Both males blinked and looked surprised. It took a moment for both people in the room to get their thoughts together.

"Why? You shouldn't be happy, so why?"

His lips twitched slightly up at the question. 

"B-because you t-two g-go that f-far. Don't mi-misunderstand me, I a-am worried a-about you t-two as well. P-please don't g-get yourself k-killed."

There was a pause of both, as they looked once more surprised. Kaito suddenly hugged him a bit tighter.

"Fine, you won Saguru. I won't do any investigation anymore. I don't want to worry Shinichi. But promise me you will be as much careful as you can be."

Saguru nodded and he could hear Kaito let out a sigh. At least he was sure that Saguru would be careful. Shinichi wanted to help, but he knew he couldn't not as long as he was in that condition. He hated it so much, but there was nothing he could do about it.

"I will head out now. See you two in the evening."

Shinichi felt the worry grow for the British detective, but he wasn't going to say anything. It should be alright, the adult wasn't doing this alone.

"A-alright, g-good luck."

Not too long afterward the two were alone, and now something else was bugging him. What were the two now? He was sure that Kaito really meant it or at least he believed him, but what was their relationship now? Was he ready yet to start one? His brows furrowed and the hug was left.

"What are you thinking about?"

The trail of thoughts stopped as he opened his mouth, but closing it again. He had no idea what to tell the latter. Should he ask or should he not ask him? Shinichi felt indecisive.

"I uh...." 

Kaito was silent as waiting for him to talk, but in the end, nothing managed to escape out of his mouth. His shyness was right now way too much in the way. By now he was sure that he was a flustered mess.

"You don't need to tell me. I will wait until you are ready to tell me."

The relief washed over him with this. Right now he just couldn't get himself to ask this. Maybe, later on, he will, but for now, it was impossible. The rest of the day, nothing too major happened. Kaito and he were talking from time to time, and at some point, they started to cuddle with each other.

His mind half awake when hearing a commotion. The warmth he had felt wasn't there, and he was alone or at least alone in bed. His eyes opened with this and he frowned as hearing outside of his room some yelling. The yelling made him nervous as well as anxious. The medicine worked, but it seemed that the yelling still made him anxious.

"I would advise you to get the hell out of my house! You entered this and I called the police!"

This was Kaito, and hearing him that furious made the anxiousness poke more. Who were they? Where they trying to harm him or Kaito. By now he felt his heartbeat quicken and his breath hitched. It wasn't just anymore his anxiousness as well fear was felt.

"As if! We know that you are hiding him here! We just want to ask some questions for our newspaper!"

The voice was unfamiliar and female. This was it, he felt his terror in his bones. By now his head felt lightheaded and not even Watson managed to get him calm down. His body swayed slightly and then everything turned out black...

Kaito tsked as seeing that they still haven't left. His patience ran out and he was so tempted to force the two out of his house. All he hoped that Shinichi hadn't woken up yet. The bark was making him glare at the two, realizing that the worst outcome was coming. Even with the drugs, it could happen that he would end up having a panic attack.

"Kaito?"

His head turned to the new voice to see that it was three people. One was Hakuba and he was relieved. The other two were police officers.

"Saguru, please check on Shinichi for me."

The mentioned detective made his way towards the room and opening, entering the room and closing it softly behind him.

"Kuroba-kun, I heard the two broke into your house?"

He let out a sigh, as slowly calming down. Nothing could change in him being furious. Kaito explained to the two police officers what happened. Not too shortly after they were arrested for breaking into his house.

Saguru was instantly greeted by Watson who was looking distressed. It was unusual, and that was why he rushed towards the bed to see a pale looking Shinichi. First, he took the pulse and a sigh escaped. It was a bit faster than the usual pulse, but not too much. 

'I guess he passed out after hyperventilating.'

Saguru could just guess that it had to do with the female which was yelling back at Kaito. The medicine was the right dosage, but it seemed that Shinichi got a panic attack thanks to her yelling. For now, he could just watch over Shinichi, until Kaito would come back.  That they would go that far was just not alright. How could they do this, knowing what the said male went through? It was making him furious and he would do anything to protect this house. The best option was to ask for protection. Until the press has calmed down...
