Horse farm and a traumatized Shinichi (Shinkai)

Chapter 17

A/N before this story starts, I wanted to apologize. I just couldn't get myself to post any stories as I just wasn't feeling up to. I have some issues again, so I haven't gotten to it. Luckily I wrote these chapters beforehand or I wouldn't post any stories at all. I am sorry once again for the inconvenience, and I hope you understand.

By now he was sitting next to Kaito as subconsciously leaning onto him. Shinichi felt the most ease with the male and why it was, he could just guess. The reason was probably that he has a massive crush, or maybe it was just that he knew that the latter male wouldn't injure him intentionally. Kid was someone who never harmed anyone. Shinichi knew that Kaito had and still has a bleeding heart. 

"Kaito, I have to thank you for taking good care of my son. Without you, he would not be that relaxed."

"I agree with him. Kudo never was that relaxed since that day. Ye're have my thanks as a best friend as well Kaito."

This was making him feel bad, knowing that he had probably worried them badly. And it wasn't a lie, as Kaito helped him a lot. 

"It's alright. I just wanted to help Shinichi. I love him way too much."

Saguru snorted and shook his head, grinning widely. It was such a Kaito answer, that even he who just really learned how Kid was behind the facade. One thing it was clear, that the latter male held back a lot. In the past, he seemed more going crazy with pranks and all. Shinichi wasn't going to ask, fearing what shenanigans the male would come up.

"That is such a Kaito answer. He has that charm on him. He draws people to him. I am still waiting for a big prank happening."

That was making him blink as he glanced at the person next to him. The glint he saw made him puzzled. 

"Um, I d-don't think t-that i-it will b-be something h-harmful. Kaito d-doesn't seem l-like someone w-who um w-would g-go t-too far p-probably."

Shinichi wasn't that sure anymore. In his voice, you could hear the unsureness. 

"Wow, not even you trust me. Shin-chan and Sagu-chan are such meanies."

He yelps as hearing this and feeling suddenly horrible. It wasn't his intention to harm Kaito.

"I d-didn't mean t-t-to make y-you feel h-hurt."

Kaito blinked as he heard this, and it was making more confused. Why was everyone shaking his head in amusement?

"You are such a moron Kaito. You do know that he is clueless when you pull something like this."

Saguru said this and he was just more lost. It wasn't helping that both of his father and best friend were holding their laughs in. 

"I forgot. I wasn't being serious Shinichi. I was trying to losing the tension."

His expression soon changed from confusion to realization. Why hadn't he realized that Kaito wasn't being serious? It made his cheeks slightly heat up in embarrassment. It seemed after Kaito explained this, the two males were starting to laugh. This made it more embarrassing, ending in him having a full blow blush.

"Come on guys, stop laughing. It isn't really his fault that he didn't realize it."

Right now Shinichi wanted to disappear in thin air. That was how embarrassed he was. It made him realize once again how clueless he can get. In the past, he would have realized that Kaito was not serious. Soon the two adults in front of him stopped laughing.

"Sorry, Shinichi but seeing you clueless was just too funny."

"Ya, yer father is right. It was too funny to see ya clueless."

A small pout was soon on his cheeks as for him it wasn't funny but embarrassing. Kaito chuckled as giving him a ruffle. This lead to him having a more prominent pout. His cheeks dusted more in a deep red with this.

"We should stop or he will get more stressed out."

The two nodded and chuckled. The easing was making him utterly exhausted. 

"I will head out now. I have to get to my clients."

Shinichi wasn't liking it too much, but he knew that his father had to go. All he could do was giving a nod towards the male.

"A-alright Dad. See y-you."

He replied softly to his father. It was clear that he wasn't wanting to leave him alone yet. The next one was his best friend. The Osakan looked apologetic.

"I have ta head out as well. Ta Police need my help."

It wasn't surprising to him, knowing that the police often called the Osakan.

"G-good l-luck Hattori."

The two soon afterward left and he was now alone with Saguru who hadn't said anything, and Kaito who was silent as well.

"Kaito I need you for a moment. I know you don't want to leave, but it has to do with them."

His brows furrow at this, but he could get the gist what Saguru was implying. 

"Will you be alright?"

A sigh escaped as he nodded. It should be fine after all his medicine was helping him. So that he wouldn't end up having a panic attack.

"Alright. Let's get this over with."

Kaito ruffled his hair before standing up and walking out of the room. The door closed Shinichi was curious. Something in him just wanted to know what they were talking. Maybe the part of him being a detective was awaking again. That was why he stood up. Watson waged his tail and he grinned. He walked up to the door and putting his ear onto it. The voices where muffled, but he still managed to understand it.

"Kaito, I need you to stay away from this all. Don't try to find anything out that is related to Vermouth. And Gin as well. I know you tried to find more out, but this is not in your hand anymore."

There was silence for a moment and Shinichi couldn't help but let out a gasp at this. Why was Kaito trying to find out about the two? They are highly dangerous. What was his motive?

"Never, and you know this. This has nothing to do with me but with Shinichi. These people need justice, and I don't fucking care how much in danger I will get."

"Kaito, I know but not even I am doing this alone. It is too big, and these two are just one of many criminals. Back out now, before you get yourself killed. They need you here. Shinichi will need you."

"I-. Look I know, but I can't let this one go."

His body slightly shook at this, and he felt his heart thundering in his chest. Why was he going that far? Just why? His legs gave in with as with a thud he landed on the ground. His hand on his mouth as he hiccuped. This was not something he expected. Both worries and happiness were felt right now in him. Worry that Kaito and Saguru ending up killed and happy that the two would go that far for him. Watson nudged him, as he started to hiccup. The door was opened and both people looked at him in surprise. Shinichi knew he was busted, but this wasn't making him stop crying. The tears just weren't going to stop flowing...
