The Void: Frozen Threat

Divided Paths; Part 2

"Fire!" I watch as everyone starts to spray into the oncoming wave of infected and I join in using one hand and aiming for there heads. I start to panic as they don't seem to be stopping and we all start spraying our guns only stopping a couple but more keep pushing towards us.

"Run to the cars!" Beta yells and everyone starts sprinting and firing there weapons over there shoulders hitting the oncoming infected with few bullets not even slowing them down.

I feel myself falling before I notice myself actually falling and before I know it i'm rolling down the hill. I hit trees and rocks as I slide down landing in a ditch at the bottom, I start to crawl to the cars until I feel two pairs of hands grab me and start dragging me towards the car.

My eye's become heavy as I'm lifted into the back of the car and laid on the seat. I feel as if water is being poured on me but I realize that is my blood and I'm bleeding out.

"Hey stay awake!" Beta shakes me and I realize we aren't at the base of the hill anymore but were driving in the dark and the car has a weird silence. I look around noticing that there aren't as much people as I remember in the car and I look back at Beta and for the first time she looks different as if she had just gone through hell and back. She was covered in blood and she looked exhausted. 

"Where is every...one" I tried to speak but I noticed how painful it was and I stopped talking.

"I don't know we all ran in different directions....Mark and I saved your ass back there....But don't talk your really banged up...you lost so much blood we thought you had turned into one of them" Beta sighs and I nod not wanting to speak because all I was thinking of was Rainy and what had happened and who was even alive still.

---ONE's P.O.V---

I run followed by three infected sounding like howling dogs wanting there next meal. I ran and ran not looking back till I fall landing in a pile of dead leaves. I look around noticing I'm all alone in a little pond area that looks straight out of a fantasy movie compared to the apocalypse.

"Shit...I'm lost...great!" I kicked the stone near me sending it into the pond with a tiny splash.

I look towards the bushes as I hear shouts and I duck behind a rock aiming my pistol right at the bush waiting for someone to come threw as the voices get louder. Just when I think it's over and no one is coming a figure smashes through the bushes and tumbles down the embankment followed by a blood covered infected.

"Hey over here you ugly son of a bitch!" I shout getting the infected to start running to me.

I wait till it's close and slide knocking it over with my leg and spinning around with my knife in hand. I bring down the knife in the back of it's skull making it shatter inwards.

"Damn..." I turn around seeing a familiar face and rolling my eyes.

"Glad to see your alive Maverick, how the hell did you get away the last I saw you were about to be tackled by those infected" I look at him with confusion thinking I had seen him die.

"I was tackled but Daemon saved me....but that was the last I saw of him after he was tackled by infected..." Maverick looks away and I know Daemon had probably died when he had saved Maverick.

"Well let's go somewhere safe it's getting darker" I start heading towards the opening in the bushes followed by Maverick.

---Alex's P.O.V---

"Hurry get in the house!" I hold the door open and watch behind Luna and Rainy as they get inside. I rush in behind them locking the door and pushing furniture against it while Luna closes the blinds on the windows and boards them up with anything she can find. Rainy sits near by sifting through the cabinets for anything we could eat and or drink.

"I think we should be good the only door is the front one here and this is the only window besides the upstairs one's which are no problems" Luna looks at me and I nod noticing she is actually talking.

"Hey guys I found some canned food and some bottled water we could share" Rainy comes out of the kitchen and I notice that her stomach is bigger from the baby.

"You can have my share Rainy I don't want anything after what just happened...." Luna shakes her head and sits against the wall with a sigh.

"Well I'll save a portion for you and if you still don't want it I'll eat it I guess" Rainy nods before starting to cook the beans she had found.

"I hope everyone is alright out there" I glance towards the door hoping most of all One makes it somewhere safe and that we could find him eventually.

---Gamma's P.O.V---

"Beta we got unknowns on the road ahead" Mark begins to slow down and Beta clicks the safety of her gun and gets out raising it at the three figures ahead.

"Hey we don't want any trouble!" Beta raises her gun and the three figures look at her with wide eyes as they raise there guns to.

"Lower the guns we don't need to fight!" Mark gets out of the car and raises his AR at them level to there heads.

I watch from my laying position in the car and I notice something familiar about there faces which are covered in mud. I looked closer and almost gasped as I remembered them, I climbed out of the car quickly and use the car as a crutch to hold myself up.

"Ryker is it you!?" I yell out and everything seems to stop as both Beta and Mark look at me in surprise knowing I was walking.

"Jax is that you!" Just then I knew it had been Ryker and behind him I could see Dawn and Sky, I had thought I would never see any of them ever again mostly Sky because just as she had arrived at the cave she had left because she didn't see eye to eye with Alpha and she had left to find Ryker which I saw she had.

"I haven't seen you in so long" I stumble forward and hug Ryker missing hanging out with him and having someone who i could talk to like a brother of some sort.

"You know him?" Beta looks confused and Mark looks ashamed because he hadn't noticed who they were.

"Yes from awhile back...Months ago at about two months into the apocalypse" I nod and notice that Dawn and Sky were standing with us now both smiling happily.

"Where is everyone else are they....you know" Ryker looks at me without a smile.

"We lost some but others made it....we don't know where everyone currently is because a sickness took alot of our people and we had all joined together to fight the infected....but we had all ran in different directions when we couldn't beat them" I sighed and I noticed how screwed we were at finding everyone.

"Well we had also gotten overrun...but after we ran bandits had found us and took all our stuff...the worst part is Dale said he had helped them find us and he had left us for them...I knew I shouldn't have trusted him" Ryker shook his head in disgust.

"Well if you guys want were heading to find shelter you can join us we have room" Beta looked at them and they all nodded slowly.

I knew this was good to have them back but I was still worried about everyone else....more so Rainy.
