The Void: Frozen Threat

Final Fight

----Gamma's P.O.V----

"Quiet now!" one of the guards shouts as he points a gun at all of us lined up ready for a slaughter.

I look down the line of my friends seeing faces I was with from the beginning and faces of people I never dreamed of meeting like Beta and Alex.

"Let this be a lesson to all who may be watching...we are coming!" The one man shouts into a live camera which was broadcasting over all stations radio and channels that haven't been used since the world fell.

"Now!" Beta shouts kicking out with her back leg knocking a guard over while Wolf, the guard who is helping us escape stabs the other in the neck. 

"Fight to escape!" I shout watching as One and Alex kill the camera man with a makeshift shiv from a chair leg.

"Everyone follow the plans and we will meet outside the east wall!" I start down the hallway towards the left with Wolf and Beta in tow while everyone else including Rainy, who had arrived earlier head for the exit.

As we ran down the hallway the alarm started to sound off ringing loudly through our ears as we headed towards the other cells to free the rest of the prisoners. The door to the cells opens and a guard steps out, before I could lunge a shot behind me rings out making him fall back against the wall blood splattering behind him. We all look at each other then turn and look behind us seeing Luna covered in blood.

"Your alive....Rainy told us you had been left for dead!" I look at her and I see she looks to be in rough shape.

"Yeah I came to save her I didn't know everyone was captured" She smiles and then looks down becoming silent again.

"Well it's good to have you with us...you can tag along with us come on!" I walk inside the door and look at the control panel seeing many levers and buttons.

"Let me do this" Wolf starts pushing buttons and pulling levers and after a minute of waiting the doors fly open and people start coming out of the cages.

"Wait something isn't right here..." Beta looks worried and I notice instantly all of the prisoners were a sickish grey color and they all had bullet wounds through there body.

"They killed them all!" I gasp and they all start running towards us.

"We have to go!" Luna shouts and we all start to run closing the door behind us hearing the banging of the dead prisoners.

"Run to exit!" We start sprinting towards the exit.

As we make it to the entrance I see something outside...Smoke and flames and not only that but there was fighting. Gun shots rung out as we opened the door and started to run dodging bullets and knocking over the infected in our paths.

The gate was so close and that's when I noticed something infront of us, it was none other than a tank something I thought only the military possessed. I saw people wearing fatigues fighting the people wearing gas masks and black clothing.

"Take cover!" Wolf shouted and I snapped out of in just in time as I ducked dodging an oncoming spray of automatic weapons on the old bus we were hiding behind.

"The only way were getting out of here is taking that tank out!" Beta shouts over the boom over weapons firing.

That's when I remembered something...the grenade I had stolen from one of the guards. It was our only shot but someone would have to get close.

"Listen, I'm going to buy you some time" I held up the grenade.

"No that is not-" I stop Beta with a glance.

"Listen give me cover fire...tell everyone I loved them as if they were my family" I started to run ducking when they shot at me, I saw men fall as my own people protected me with cover fire.

I got closer and closer until I finally reached it throwing the grenade down the barrel and turning around just in time to watch as someone shoots a bullet hitting my chest sending me to the ground. I crawled for cover but the explosion sent me flying forward and I hit a box landing in the dirt which soon was soaked around me in red.

Sometime soon a voice spoke to me softly, I looked up seeing Ryker and everyone else I had lost including Maverick, Dawn, Aiello, and Hibana. Soon my vision adjusted and it was Beta and Luna looking at me with sadness. 

"Go...I will stay here...it won't be long till more arrive" Blood spilled from my mouth as I talked the puddle around me had stopped growing and I knew I was gonna die. I had accepted this from the moment my plan had formed...I just hoped my son grew up knowing how much I loved him.

"Come on we can save you!" Beta starts crying and Wolf grabs her taking her towards the gate where the others would be.

"Protect them....I trust you" I looked at Luna and she started to cry but she nodded and that's all I wanted.

"I will" She said before walking away towards the others.

I watched as infected chased after fleeing people and I laughed for the first time in awhile knowing they weren't my people. A tear ran down my face as I watched a two cars speed by knowing that everyone I cared about was going to be safe.

As for me, my time was being cut short and I didn't care.

----1 hour later----

"Look at what we have here boys!" I look up and see Dale looking down at me surrounded by more people all wearing gas masks or scarves around there mouths.

I tried to speak but I was to weak and before I could do anything I was being dragged towards a car by two unknown people. They dropped me at the back door and then I felt myself being lifted into the car where Dale starred at me with interest.

"What are you?" He looks me up and down before laughing to himself.

"Your dead but your not...weird" He gives me a glance up and down.

"Where to sir?" The driver looks back and I notice instantly he has no gas mask and he looks to be only a teenager.

"Bring us to the estate we need to run test" He then gets closer to me and whispers into my ear making me have the chills.

"Were going to find out what makes you tick, Jax" I look at him with pleading eyes knowing I was defenseless and the worst part is he remembers me from the city.

I don't know what I am or who I am anymore, all I know is I need to find out and the best way for that is Dale to run his "test" on me.
